Re: Previews
Smile went up to $18.4M. -18%. I bet it beats Halloween Ends' overall total now, even with a big drop in the coming weekend.

Re: Previews
There's no way it wasn't going to beat Halloween Ends. I think that was evident after the first weekend. Halloween Ends will see another big drop-off and poor legs. Smile will see a bigger drop this coming weekend but I think it will still hold its own just fine.
An 18% drop is just INSANE.

Re: Previews
Though it benefitted from a holiday, $18.4M from a $22.6M OW is crazy.
I'm getting The Others (2001) type box office vibes from this one. $14.1M OW, $10.9M second weekend (-22.6%). Those adjust now to about $23.3M and $18.0M second weekend.
That came out in August but ended up with a 6.85 multiplier. It dealt with Jeepers Creepers which today would have been the equivalent of a $21.6M OW.
With the Halloween holiday, I could definitely see conservatively a 5.5X multiplier here even with the Halloween movie release. That would give Smile about $124.3M total as a rough early estimate.

Re: Previews
Previous years' movies haven't shown much impact from Columbus Day, if anything, so I'm not putting Smile's performance down to that. It's simply just doing incredibly well because people are flocking to see it.

Re: Previews
When horror films are loved they end up having some of the best legs of any genre. So many examples over the years - Scream, The Others, The Ring, Paranormal Activity, A Quiet Place etc

Re: Previews
Tuesday #'s
Smile $2,084,533 -30% $55,505,998 Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile $880,057 $14,082,923 The Woman King $518,938 -28% $55,294,615 Don’t Worry, Darling $487,776 -44% $39,479,844 Bros $272,325 -54% $9,506,570
Fantastic for Smile. Will be at $60M going into this weekend.
Lyle is decent. $16M going into the weekend so everything seems to depend on those weekend matinees.
Woman King later run holds are so impressive. $70M+ tally seems to be happening.
At least Bros will get to an 8-digit total as it passes $10M...
