Strange World Predictions
First trailer is out. Looks ok nothing special.
Maybe around 50-60 5 day opening, 160-175m total if it gets a full window through Christmas.

Re: Strange World Predictions
This will probably disappoint. Probably a total on par with Pets or Bad Guys at best. Though it will have no theatrical competition. But Disnechanted is released same day on Disney Plus so families may stay home and watch that anyway

Re: Strange World Predictions
Disney releases this and Lightyear in theaters.
Disney does not release Turning Red or Disenchanted in theaters. Their yearly box office would be like $100M higher if they flipped them, with the same amount of Disney+ subs coming in.
As for the movie, who knows. Black Panther and Avatar will overshadow everything in the holiday season. $25M opening and legs to $100M is probably about as much as they can expect.

Re: Strange World Predictions
This looks bland and boring. I doubt it gets much further than $80-90m

Re: Strange World Predictions
I'm actually looking forward to it. However, I think it's going to be a huge bomb, too. These sort of animated adventure films always seem to disappoint. I guess they lack family appeal (not cute enough, no singing, etc.), and are too "childish" for most others, so they struggle to find an audience.
Cloud with a Chance of Meatballs is probably the absolute ceiling, at least IMO. But I'd be surprised if it did more than $70/75m. I might even predict lower, $50/60m.

Re: Strange World Predictions
It feels like The Croods sequel but with no IP apart from the hook of Disney, which isn't what it used to be. I think it misses $100 million.
