Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
100m would be incredible for it, after the last one could barely get 75m OW coming off of Infinity War. I'm still skeptical the jump will be that big, especially since general audiences have not watched Loki and don't know who Kang or MODOK are.

I've seen Ant Man's trailer attached to almost everything for the last 3 months so feel awareness is still sky high here.

I feel the Quantum setting and Kang make it feel special compared to the 2nd.

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
Previews are looking at 20m+ looking at comps with BP2. So it should hit 100m easily. Marvel has a strong fan base who seem to eager to see these movies.

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
Tracking for 120m debut. Crazy, considering 2 only did 75. It could still miss that mark, but I think 100m is pretty solid for it and looking very possible to be a 300m grosser

It will open 4-days at around $120 Million but of course will be very frontloaded.

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
It's kind of hilarious how Disney managed to effortlessly do three installments of a Z list superhero like Ant-Man but Warners is struggling mightily to do a third Wonder Woman.

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
Of course the pandemic had a lot to do with its box office decrease but WW1984 was an incredibly disappointing follow up to a $413M domestically/$822M globally performing film.
It wasn't at a Batman and Robin level but pretty much ruined a clear path to a Wonder Woman 3.

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
I really enjoyed the first Wonder Woman and thought DC had arrived. A worthy rival to the MCU. It could have non-Supes/Batman characters carry a movie. With that said, I'm excited about Gunn's vision for the DCU/Elseworld franchise. I especially love the aggressive and tight interweaving of TV series with the films.

Social media seems better than for Thor and Doctor Strange at least. Hoping for 85%+ on RT. Apparently Modok special effects are awful

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
I have very little anticipation for this. I'll take the kids to see it but have to admit my anticipation for Marvel films is very low these days.

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
Looks like it will only end up in the vicinity of the first film WW.
Will be the fourth film of Marvel post pandemic to gross less than 3x its budget WW and effectively lose the studio money.

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Predictions
The Ant Man hammer has dropped. MCU "Newness" is the new trend coming straight from Iger. Quote: “Sequels typically worked well for us,” Iger said during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference on Thursday. “Do you need a third and a fourth for instance? Or is it time to turn to other characters?”
“There’s nothing in any way inherently off in terms of the Marvel brand,” Iger said. “I think we just have to look at what characters and stories we’re mining, and you look at the trajectory of Marvel over the next five years, you’ll see a lot of newness. We’re going to turn back to the Avengers franchise, but with a whole different set of Avengers.”

Geez. I went for $256-265m, which I thought was lowballing a bit. It's not even going to reach $220 million!

Just when you thought MCU didn't have enough to deal with. Their main villain for this phase was arrested for alleged strangulation. Hope the woman is ok. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ ... 235360852/

The police are probably targeting him unfairly because he's black. Anyway, Marvel deserves their share of problematic assets. It can't always be DC, lol!
