Trailer out. Looks awesome. Hopefully its good, and can get some Oscar nominations. Hopefully the black audience that powered Black Panther will power.

Seeing 20-25m OW, and it playing all the way through Oscar season if it's good.

The trailer is exciting, but I already see so many detractors for a country that is majority white. Black Panther was a superhero movie and part of a wider universe, so I don't see any parallels there. The Woman King will be a pure test of the feminist, anti-white, pro-black movement. I'm skeptical it will do well, but not ruling it out. It feels ripe for controversy from both sides. I'm sure Beninese natives speaking English will go down well with the purists.

But lol at the mention of "Oscar season". It's made by the director of The Old Guard, so it's guaranteed not to be good. I'd also argue it's not really made for awards seeing as though it's coming out six months before Oscar night.
