From the top 400 domestic list, I'd say other high value candidates (though not likely probable) include Home Alone, Elf, Gladiator, Grease, The Exorcist, Jaws and ET.

Actors returning to iconic roles could also be mega blockbuster runs. Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman 2, Will Smith in a legit ID4 sequel once he's back in the public's good graces, Sigourney in Alien, Matthew Broadrick in Ferris Bueller 2, Lindsay Lohan and team in Mean Girls 2, Uma in Kill Bill 3, Sound of Music 2 (still #3 on the adjusted list).

I personally think the charm of a Ferris Bueller sequel would resonate big time as Bueller's kid takes the day off of school or something.

Weaver in Aliens wouldn't have that impact, we've returned to the franchise many times, and Weaver's been in three of them. It'd be much more of a Terminator Dark Fate situation. I think the Exorcist brand is a bit diluted. (Blair even did her own spoof!) A Gladiator prequel might be big, but at this point there's no way to make any cast members look younger. (A Master and Commander sequel would be more feasible, and the toast of Film Twitter, but like Blade Runner, less commercial.)

Charlie is saying 28-29m range for sunday and so its not going to hit 90m. high end will barely miss 90m and low end will be tad below 89m. Considering all early projections have been below actuals there is still little bit of hope. But 89m is nothing to sneeze at for sure.

Feeling more and more comfortable that I wasn't that crazy with the $600m total...

BTW, my opening weekend forecast was $160m and my 2nd weekend forecast $85m...

Awesome prediction. You should participate in this wknd’s Derby

Thing is, I just don't have the time... Running a website is very time consuming...

EmpireCity is saying 29.25m sunday. Unless Fri/Sat drops, it can go above 90m.

The weekend went up $4M to $90M for a -29% hold. :noway:

It's 3rd weekend will be the most interesting and insightful on where it ends up. Will it get hit harder by Jurassic Park or manage an under 35% hold?

It's crazy that this only needs a 5.493 multiplier from a $90M weekend to reach $700M and top 5 all time. A 29% hold off of Memorial Weekend?

It's crazy it dropped just 29% coming off such a big, preview and holiday inflated, opening. That said, it had no new competition this weekend and next weekend it will lose most of it's IMAX and PLF screens to Jurassic World. It would be an amazing hold against Jurassic World to drop under 40%. Under 50% would be a good hold.

It's breaking so many rules I can't keep track anymore. :whaa:

A Sixth Sense type hold for a $125M+ opener following an inflated Memorial Weekend appealing to older audiences who have barely showed up for the last few years with a sequel to a franchise 36 years old with 5 release date changes, starring an actor who's never had a movie make more than $234M or $1B turning 60 in less than a month, relying less on CGI, opening the same month as a Marvel movie, 2 years in a pandemic with some markets still limited, on its way to top 10 and possibly top 5 domestic of all time?!

To Spidy's credit, omicron lockdowns came in its second weekend. No one in the biggest provinces in Canada for instance could see it for a month! Still doesn't takeaway from how outstanding TG's hold is.

As usual he updated to 12.3m. I think the numbers will be bonkers till wednesday and this will cool down on thu/fri due to JWD. After that it will do great again rest of the summer. 600m+ for sure.

Goodness gracious great balls of fire :whaa:. Well-deserved. Excellent movie. I'm going to go again. Should definitely be seen on the big screen.

I wish Jurassic World weren't opening already and it could have another week mostly to itself.
