Almost reminds me of the first flintstones movie which adjusts to nearly 300 million now. I’ll settle for unadjusted though, 44/ 115 close, I think it could break out bigger though, I just don’t really no how it’ll do, but comedy adaptations of popular brands have done very well in the past (Addams family, Brady bunch, stately and hutch, Scooby-Doo, flintstones, etc. the world they created is interesting.

Why this isn’t being made for children is beyond me.

There’s plenty of stupid Barbie minor animated films out there. This honestly has a lot more breakout potential. A straight up Barbie animated movie would probably do 60 at best. New trailer is decent and the cast is impressive. Hopefully it’s not another bewitched. I I think the new trailer at least confirmed an opening in the 30s

Pretty good trailer, I could see it succeeding now.

Do kids even care about barbie now? Every one I ever see has their eyes glued to a screen. I think the nostalgic gals night out movie was the right play here. $50/125M gross looks right.

I thought Barbie was dead, until my niece wanted like 50 Barbie’s randomly at age 7, so yeah I think it is the equivalent of a GIJoe timelessness even if you aged out

The social media presence on this is kinda insane. If these people actually go and see this, this is gonna be big.

Yeah that Barbie poster meme has fully reached my normie IRL friends, so kudos to the WB marketing team. I'm still curious how strongly they plan on marketing this to actual kids, but they're doing a pretty good job sparking awareness and interest among adults. Plus I think opening against Oppenheimer is actually. long-term pro for both movies, since the rivalry will help increase awareness for both movies.

If this can walk the Shrek line where there’s lots of adult jokes that go over kids heard, maybe it could appeal to kids.

I think this will pulverize Oppenheimer. Maybe even 2x as big an opening.

I do expect this will win OW with over 50m to around 40-45m for Oppenheimer. But I expect Oppenheimer will have much longer legs

The new trailer is very effective and a huge step up from previous marketing. Definitely not looking like an outright flop (Shazam). A $200M gross isn't impossible if its good.

I still think Oppenheimer should've been called 'Destroyer of Worlds'. I honestly don't think the average American knows who Oppenheimer is and the title coming up in the trailer will be a head-scratcher for them. They also should've had someone say the words "atomic bomb" in the trailer just to really spell it out. In comparison the Barbie trailer tells you exactly what kind of movie it's going to be. Much more effective marketing iMO. We shall see in a few months.

I was won over by the 2nd trailer. It doesn't look like it'll lean in on some of the fears zwackerm air (which would scare me away as well). It won't take itself seriously. I can see it opening north of $40m. I trust Greta Gerwig at the helm.

Nolan is obsessed with one word titles.

The trailer ensures it won’t flop. If it’s good it can go $150m+ domestically

The "This Barbie is a ..." meme is huge. It's the exact type of free marketing that movies need in 2023. I'm upping my prediction to $75 / $195M.

One thing is for sure - this will open huge. It may come to the point where Oppenheimer is better off moving the the following week because this will steal all the buzz that weekend.
