Sequel to Death on the Nile and Murder on the Orient Express coming next year with a Halloween theme.
The cast is stacked which makes me a lot more excited about this one. Branaugh, Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Michelle Yeoh along with Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly and Riccardo Scamarico.
Looks like it could be fun. Definitely a rebound to $100M from Nile which they could barely market properly with Armie Hammer as the main star of it.

How is that more stacked?
I could see it do better than Nile due to a better release date and more theatrical rebound after COVID but not by much. I'm excited for it but doesn't seem like a franchise that's hotly anticipated by audiences

Armie = -10 so just having Tina Fey and Michelle Yeoh makes me more excited for this already.

Re: A Haunting In Venice
That's the worst cast so far, lol
But it sounds like a lot of fun:
Quote:
Set in post-WWII Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, the now retired and living in self-imposed exile Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a haunted palazzo when one of the guests is murdered, and the former detective must once again find out who did it.

I still need to see Nile. This does sound fun though. Hope it releases in October.

Re: A Haunting In Venice
Teaser came out and has a few million views after a day. Looks like it could have a nice rebound from the last one with Armie and it's got Michelle Yeoh and Tina Fey in a mystery playing like a thriller / horror movie.
Not sure about the book choice, I actually haven't really heard of this one (original book is called Hallowe'en Party). I think they should have just did a non faithful adaptation of And Then There Were None with Poirot stuffed into it.

Re: A Haunting In Venice
I love the different take. I just hope it doesn't negatively impact the box office, because right now it looks like a smaller, less-mainstream affair than Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile.

If this came out in October for Halloween it would do way better

Horror-themed films do great in September too. For many horror fans like myself, Halloween is celebrated for two months. I try to watch mostly horror movies in September and October.
Opening the weekend after The Nun 2 isn't super smart. But who knows how well that will do. People mostly hated the first. Might open well and then completely die off the second weekend. Unless they can somehow make a good movie this time around. I'd say it's better to open in September than release in October, close to The Exorcist.
This looks good and could do decently. Or it could be another Crimson Peak. Even with an October release and no major horror competition, that flopped.
