Encanto - 33 (5-day)
House of Gucci - 21 (5-day)

Hoping Encanto does more. HoG I'm not sure after seeing it... I'm a big Gaga fan and although she's good in the movie it's not that strong a film overall.

Encanto has a 30 day window before D+ right? I can wait. Moana is great but this one doesn't look all that special. Dramas haven't been performing too well, but pre-covid this would have been a possible House of Gucci upset.

For the 3day

Encanto - $24M
Gucci - $9M

I think Considering Ghostbusters has had the best internal multiplier of any opener over 40 this year and the 2nd after free Guy, and connecting with families, it could pull a repeat at 33-38 5 day. (Right now I see it going higher than 44 million when actuals come out, and put it around 26-27 weekend 2.

I doubt most people know about the Encanto window. It will easily clear 45m 5 day. The soundtrack is amazing.

I think we are actually looking at a fairly strong week. Ghosbusters, Encanto and Gucci willall do well by expectations, I suspect.

I know Disney is all about their trademark "magic" but they've been going to this well a lot lately. I'd love to see another original animated film with a different storyline, something like the first Cars, Toy Story, etc. Encanto just feels like rinse and repeat, take it to the bank.

Post Re: November 24-28 predictions
I was thinking Encanto would do like 39 Million over the 3-Day.

Resident Evil will probably do 12 Million over the 5-Day stretch. Gucci might hit 20 Million over the 5-Day.

I'm seeing Ghostbusters, Gucci, and Resident Evil on Tuesday. Would have seen Belfast instead of Ghostbusters but my theater is starting it on the tiniest screen on Tuesday. It gets bumped up to a bit bigger one starting Wednesday. So I'll wait. I was really excited because last week when I looked my theater had showtimes for Power of the Dog starting Wednesday. Then they took them down. Then another Marcus theater about 45 minutes farther than that had them up still so I thought I'd just go there. But now they don't have it either. I didn't expect my theater to get it in the first place since they've only gotten one Netflix movie (Army of the Dead) but was excited I'd get to see it on the big screen. Now I'm more disappointed than I would have been if they'd just not released showtimes for it. They got my hopes up. :P

My theater is also getting Julia and For The Love Of Money. Julia seems to be opening at quite a few theaters. Power of the Dog would have done better here than these two movies.

What do you mean? Encanto is an original film.

Lol. He means the same story different setting and songs. Disney did the same thing from the little mermaid to Mulan. This does feel more towards the later films of the period. And honestly looks more like an episode of Elena.

Disney released Luca, Soul, Raya and the Last Dragon, Onward, Coco, all since the last princess musical Moana. A lot of variety there.

Their princess musicals almost always do better at the box office and long term as well. The most popular movie on Disney Plus is Moana

What you call variety I call 5 potato dishes brought to the same dinner. No offense to the potato.

Yup, all exactly the same for sure.

Makes no sense people would jump on Encanto for being "unoriginal" when we literally just had Ghostbusters 4, MCU 25+26, Bond 25, Halloween 12, Venom 2, the third adaptation of Dune and a live action adaptation of a kids cartoon no one asked for. And we're about to get West Side Story remake no one wanted, Spider Man 8, Matrix 4, and Kingsman 3.

Seems like House of Gucci easily has more buzz than any drama this year, the current leader is Respect lol. Hoping for 30-35m over 5 days.

$30m-$35m 5-day for HoG is a little high, I think it can do $20m and that would be good enough.

In normal times I think Gucci would do Ford v Ferrari numbers at the least. But dramas have just been flopping over and over in the covid era.

Reviews will hurt House of Gucci, it's only so-so and lessens the desire to watch it theatrically. I would've gone to the cinema to see if it had been acclaimed, now I'm not so sure. I'd rather just catch it on LookMovie.io or whatever lol.

Unfortunately adults aren't coming out to see dramas. That said - If Gucci can do $20-$25m over 5 days - it would be somewhat of an over performance.

I think Ghostbusters will hold well and be the weekend's big ticket. Could at least match Encanto.

Encanto should be good for $35m 5-day

RE - $11-$13m 5-day

Yeah, reviews should prevent a HOG breakout, but it should still have the biggest opening for a drama in the pandemic. 15m for the 3 day and over 20m for the 5day seems realistic

Bad reviews didn't stop Bohemian Rhapsody.

I just think the title is awesome and I'm interested to see how Gaga follows up ASIB, even though the movie itself has never looked too appealing and Ridley has been on a cold streak for most of the last decade (The Martian being the one exception.)

Encanto was fantastic! I may have liked it more than any Disney film since Tangled. Would need to watch it again.

Could have been a big hit if it weren't for D+ on Christmas. Hopefully it can still hit 100m total.

Soze, any previews ideas?

My Encanto showing was sold out, but that might've just been because of discount Tuesday.

Missed this. I had posted in BOT. I was slightly higher on Encanto and on the dot for Gucci. I am not feeling > 40m at this point. let us hope I am wrong. Gucci also looks like under performing. Not so great reviews definitely is not helping.
