As bad and low as the OW is for Nile, it's still I think on its way to be the 2nd biggest adult audience skewing film after Gucci over the past 2.5 years?

Without Super Bowl Nile would be at like 14m+, so it hasn't done awful and I could see it having ok legs. Interested to see Valentine's #s.

Random stat about Spidy:

With $7.15M 3day, Spidy is #20 on the top 9th weekends of all time.

It's the only superhero movie there. The closest one is #43 Black Panther with $5,777,896 M in its 9th weekend.

So it's having an especially lengthy run despite the massive OW. Assume omicron's impact in its first 2 weeks is stretching it out as well as repeat viewings and a lack of much else to see.

This just makes House of Gucci look even more impressive.

I also have to wonder--with so many states without any restrictions anymore, is this just the new normal going forward? Other media have seen numbers drop dramatically too even when the pandemic shouldn't have affected them, like TV viewing and streams for the most popular songs.

I think it will be a gradual recovery. Things still seem on a relative upward trajectory overall. But it will be difficult to get people who the pandemic taught to wait for streaming to come back. Cinemas have the fans back but the general audiences will come back for films that generate conversation. And they don't even have to be franchise films. And the more big films hopefully their momentum will propel other films.
