It’s just the traffic. I’ll wait to get tickets that night like always. Never once had an issue. I think the only time I ever reserved tickets was for TFA. Even Endgame, DH2, and any other film has been pretty easy as long as you plan ahead. Buy the tickets when there aren’t lines, go have dinner, come back. Honestly Thursday at 7pm has always been easy. The midnight ones back in the day use to be crazier.

Already at Cinemark its ahead of final number for Black widows !!!! its not even full day yet. Show counts will explode to match demand at this point. This is playing way beyond MCU fan base and there is no COVID impact for this. Theaters will be uber packed at this point.

smells like a “gets over-predicted / over-hyped so that the inevitably big but not phenomenal numbers seem disappointing” kind of situation.

I’m sure it’ll get over predicted, but I think something like Rogue One isn’t out of the question. I figure we have about 17-25 days before Omricon starts fucking things up. So Spider-Man’s OW hype should hold be able to hold out. If the vaccines and boosters hold to it, then legs should be ok. 450 i don’t think would happen even with an opening above Rise of Skywalker.

I doubt Omricon will impact on the world, much less the box office. At a certain point the next "variant" will produce another shoulder shrug and life goes on.

Omicron is almost certsinly not affecting the box office any more than Delta did. If it does, it will buck historical precedent of later strains of diseases, which tend to get more transmissible while being less severe.

For those who are all calling this to be overpredicted, its crushing presales of last star wars movies. If it were thursday its previews would be around 20m already !!! This is unprecedented for any movie not named endgame and its PS is not that far from endgame which was event of the past decade.

I was a sceptic before presales started. I thought Spiderman movies have stalled and have a ceiling. But this movie has set expectations that has scaled way higher than any spiderman movie. I wonder what is the adjusted gross of 1st Tobey movie. This could make a play considering it has holidays.

Spider-Man 2002 is 646m adjusted. Don't know if it will get that high but Spider Man 3 adjusted at 447m is achievable for sure. Spider Man 2 is at 550m.

Thanks Zwakerm. Actual gross should be higher considering huge number of Imax/PLF these days. That bumps of average ticket price for blockbusters. Also movies tend to hold better in bigger format than regular screens.

Ciniplex is reporting this is the biggest presales launch event ever at their chain.

Fandango states the obvious that this is the biggest since endgame(bigger than ROS).

Well, it's the first big event film of the pandemic era. Almost 2 years have passed without one. There's going to be a lot of hype surrounding it. Don't mean to dismiss the high presales as mundane or anything, just that it carries a sort of novelty factor with that status.

It should be able to achieve numbers at least double what we've had so far this year, I believe. The Omicron variant will have to spread incredibly fast and be ruled more transmissible and potentially more serious than the Delta to have any noticeable impact. (At least in the US. Some international markets will be another story.)

Peculiar that the Guinness Book of Records waives the record if you use the bathroom during the movie. Feel he should get a record for bladder control as well.
