How about over/under the 2016 one? Lol I'd still go under tbh. Even if this was during regular times $150m sounds tough.

I think it looks amazing and would say over if we weren't in a pandemic. I have no clue what life will be like in November.

Aint no bitches can be Ghosbusters.

Under. Even in Normal Times. I’m actually rooting for this one to fall under the Kristen Wiig version just to see the reactions from the incels. :funny:

I hated the first one and am not an incel. I just hate the idea of reboots. If that movie had worked they would have done a Back to the Future reboot. Classic movies should never be rebooted. I could care less if they had all guys a mix or whatever.

Maybe you aren’t, but you can’t deny there was that sort of reaction around the net as soon as it was announced. And those same people are into this one. So for most it was never about reboots lol. :funny:

Not true. I was hyped for a Ghostbusters reboot and wasn't entirely disappointed with the 2016 movie or the idea of female Ghostbusters. This one though looks really good unlike the previous trailer it just peaked my interest from 0 to 100 and I'm sure there will be others in the same boat.

This also has that Stranger things vibe song with brand name and as seen at the end of trailers some cameos from original cast which will be marketed in next trailer so I think it has a good chance of breakout.

Having said all this I am still banking on theaters being open throughout fall season.

It was there but it wasn't the reason it didn't make much money. It obviously didn't get much of a female crowd either and there were plenty of people like me who didn't want to watch it because it was a reboot. Maybe the marketing was bad too. I can't say about that.

Sony surprised attendees at CinemaCon by screening all of Ghostbusters.

https://deadline.com/2021/08/ghostbuste ... 234820582/

My feeling is it's gotta be really good. There's no way they'd do a screening this early (2.5 months away from release). I can't recall a last major blockbuster to be screened this early in full.

Could this pull a major upset and dominate the fall? Given movies like Free Guy and tv like Ted Lasso are dominating, a fun franchise like Ghostbusters could resonate in these challenging times.

I'm going to go for $150M+ now. Will play well into Christmas as long as theaters are open.

It will surprise for sure but Spidey and Bond will still be bigger than this.

I think like Suicide Squad there being a previous movie that alienated some people will hurt it

This is a reboot and does bring characters from the original which is what the audience wanted in the first reboot. I do not think the situation is similar to TSS and if the WoM is great most people will be swayed as this won't be on streaming services for sure. With TSS's streaming strategy the good WoM would have pushed people to check it out online and I feel the WoM is mixed even though critics love it.

This is one of the best looking trailers I've seen in some time. Super excited for this.

So the reviews are great if not glowing and most reviews mention that this has tons of fan service which to me should be good enough to have a leggy run during fall season.

Over! Free Guy, Venom, they are pure fun escapism.

It's been a long 2 years so a fun nostalgic movie like this will overperform.

Indeed. With good reviews I think this will attract Jumanji crowds in Fall.

Buzz on this is improving. I could see 60-70m OW for it.
