The reviews are saying it's great, we are way overdue for a break-out, and the market is pretty empty. I think the leggy oqerperformer that we know Covid will eventually create it here.

$35m opening, $205m total :cool:

I also think a growing dynamic to watch is the appeal of original, creative content. People have been endlessly rewatching franchise films for the past 18 months. I think some of the more original material i.e. this film, Suicide Squad or even The Matrix will be more attractive then previously while films like Black Widow and Spider-man may come in a bit lower than expected.

How are Suicide Squad (an unnecessary and hasty reboot) and Matrix 4 (4!!!) original content? lol

Also agree with the previous comments that Jungle Cruise doing Cruella numbers or $100m would be huge win.

SS and Matrix have not had any content pushed out in the last few years.

Matrix 4 in particular may be a sequel but will feel like a breathe of fresh air. Unless it is truly horrible, the trailer is going to explode on social media when it comes out soon.

I think ViewerAnon, the dude that had leaks about Josstice League and WW1984 said Matrix would not be a hit based on test screenings lol will probably open big but plummet especially if it's on HBO Max.

I have read all the spoilers and the concept is def. different but we'll see. It is major sci fi.

With $35m OW? No way it will leg out from that opening. Unless it opens above $50m there is no chance and as such chance for $50m OW is zero. So.....

I think Jungle Cruise has a shot at $100m total but not $200m.

In regards to Matrix (which was mentioned) - it may have a solid opening but to me it feels like a spent force damaged by the reception of the sequels (much like GoT after Season 8).

Maybe a stunning trailer will change things.

Having seen it yesterday I can tell you its a great crowd pleasure like Rock's other jungle adventure Jumanji so I can see some great legs before its free on D+ but I am sure its OW will be muted so it wouldn't get to $200m mark. I can see $25m mark for sure.

Do you keep posting these outlandish predictions just to get a response? In pandemic times with premium access on Disney Plus, there is no way Jungle Cruise will gross $200 million domestically. As others have written, the best model is Cruella. Cruella had an opening weekend of $21.5 million and will end up close to $86 million at the domestic box office. Jungle Cruise will open with a $36 million weekend and end with a total of $144 million domestic total.

You can't just copy and paste numbers and expect the same results too. Cruella had 0 competition. Jungle Cruise has SS and Free Guy. More likely it'll be 33 and 100 million by the grace of God, lol. If the 2nd weekend drops have showed us anything, even with a higher opening there's no guarantee it'll have any staying power to even pass Cruella. Most of us have faint hope some film has to have some type of legs, but definitely not a Disney movie (Hopefully we do get numbers as BW looks like it will lose between 250-300WW theatrically from PA, I think Jungle Cruise might actually do better so I hope we get more PA numbers)

And to answer your question, yes, Excel usually doubles and adds 20 the most reasonable predictions.

This may not do $200m but I'm curious how this holds. This doesn't seem like something that would be frontloaded so I'm expecting decent legs and should play well throughout August.

I feel the better WoM might push more people to streaming in this case lol. I don't think the visuals are that great for people to recommend a theatrical visit.
