Trailer looks like Ready Player One, but it will likely be the first major family film after Covid restrictions are over. Considering the performance of Tom and Jerry, I could definitely see Space Jam open to 50-60m.

I dunno, it could do very well since the original is very popular, but alot of these changes are weird. So the Looney Toons aren’t actually real anymore? The idea that Bugs and Daffy could just show up at your house was a big part of the appeal. Should’ve kept that and had Michael Jordan as a co-lead to really get the nostalgia juices flowing.

Normal - $35/$100M

Covid - $13M / $44M

I see it opening with $30m+ if there is not another bad wave in the US.

This doesn't look all that good to me, but I can see it doing well in the summer, especially if there isn't another bad wave and people are more starved than ever for new movies.

Do kids these days really care about Looney Tunes though? I guess if Tom & Jerry can do low-mid teens low to mid 20's shouldn't be that hard for this and if millenials really decide to show up than maybe I can see it approaching the 30's.

An opening similar to Tom & Jerry IMO.

I don't see this opening below $25m. Adults who grew up in the 90s will be all over this.

Lebron James is such a jerk hope this flops.

This is gonna be huge on opening weekend, but all signs point to the movie sucking so it will likely fade quick. Then again, the first also got lousy reviews (43% on RT, which didnt exist at the time but still…) yet wound up as a cult classic.

It’s the one big family film being released in theaters this summer.

It will attract a huge black/asian audience because of the NBA crossover.

90s nostalgia = $$$

The ready player one “hey member this?” aspect will create nostalgia for people other than 90s kids too.

This is gonna be a big deal, for a few days at least.

This would've easily done 50m+ pre-covid. I think it can still do 30m but idk how much more.

I am thinking $20m OW and about $50m total.

I think it will open to about $35-40m (I guess it streams as well). It could have made more but I also think LeBron is far less likeable than MJ was back in the mid 90s. MJ was way bigger from a cultural icon perspective.

I was just going to say this. Lebron doesn’t have MJ’s appeal, and the trailer looks bad. $30-40m OW sounds right.
