Surprised that we didn't get MK numbers yet. I thought it would be other way around and difficult to get DS numbers.

I read somewhere that the discount on TS is not applied for DS movie?

Yes but the theaters are still free to provide discounts on concessions which can also attract more casual audience than regular weekdays.

Me too!! I've been refreshing the numbers since it's my only reference and DS, MK GVK for the past 2 days have not been updated yet

I hope Alo understands the impact of Piracy in US market a little. Its different from Asian markets and difficult to get your head around if you have been observing/following Asian markets for almost all your life.

It would also help if it wasn't being reported on. Here is fine since it's inquiring about the potential impact on the box office, but websites (especially anime centric ones like ANN) shouldn't be posting articles on stuff like this. That exposure likely leads to more people finding out and possibly pirating it (or anything else) more than anything else.

But again, the impact is likely overblown. At least wait a week to see how the numbers behave in the recently released and soon-to-be-released markets.

The movie will get back some Imax this weekend.
And it read somewhere that the discount for Tuesday is not applied for this movie and anime movie in general.

Just before folks start declaring that piracy is impacting the film, I am expecting it to be $6M 2nd weekend on normal grounds. It doing 6M or even 5.5M will be totally normal in USA during 2nd weekend.

70%-75% drop ? Even if a big drop is expected, it hurts a drop as strong as this one.

Good one Charlie to bring this out right away. Fan driven movies in US are almost heavily frontloaded and this definitely had the curiosity factor along with immense build up from JP BO. This one will drop hard, its not Japan where movies have longevity by holding great for weeks to come. Look at Super Broly's numbers for reference, it opened on a Wednesday and still dropped 69% on its second weekend.

Specially during COVID movies have shown bigger second weekend drop then stabilise from 3rd/4th weekend onwards.

Does anyone have data about the early sale of DS in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland today?

Tomorrow, Finland will begin to premiere the movie, too.

mark66 said theaters haven't reopened yet in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, so the release dates are incorrect (or rather, haven't been updated/changed). I updated them to "Coming Soon" on the first page, but you'll probably still see the dates on other sites.

Same with Finland. Even though the release date is tomorrow there are actually no showings. Only way to see it I believe is to buy the "My Showing" option which is basically a private showing for 230€. Some theaters are reopening in mid may, but it doesn't matter anyway since we are such a small market.

Hey now, you could be the difference between $499.9 million and $500 million!

Internal weekend behavior was pretty promising for OW. The pure FSS was 17.3, I think a 60% drop to 7M would be very reasonable, or perhaps even better.

However I wouldn’t leap to piracy as an explanation unless it goes below 5M — just normal fan frontloadedness.

New opening date for the German speaking markets will be announced next week...

Nope the patterns in the market haven't stabilised yet to make Weekend estimates based on weekdays.

Nice, from this source, theater counts for DS are over 1,833 this weekend.

If everything sails smoothly, DS can surpass Broly easily after Sunday. Next weekend will be rougher with many new movies.

They are being overly optimistic with DS but it would be a nice surprise if it comes close to $9m weekend.
