Not sure what you are expecting? Its not like Sony can stop internet piracy. If this was some niche anime movie I would be slightly worried, but its not.

Sony 's respone in this accidient has been super slow. What's on the internet stays on the internet.

Sony should just take down the internet as a whole for a few more weeks just to be sure.

Re: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (INTL - #1 WW Film of 202
I think it will prevent the audience from going to the cinema aspecially with someone who already saw it one time and decided to rewatched it some more times in the cinema. This is the target which will be affected the most I think.
This movie so far has a big OW and great WOM, so I would like to see it taking advantage of them and go up to more than $40M, but now what is the chance?
It is rare for an anime movie to have these opportunities. And just when this movie had them, the private factor ruins its full potential.
Regretable feeling.
One more reason which is more personal is that I want to see the surprised face of the box office analyst people in case a anime movie can do that. Because they often treat all anime movie as the same but this one has much potential to be different.
So seeing their surprised face will make me feel satisfied.

Booked for Sunday! First movie since Tenet. They had one subbed show at 7pm (which is what I got obviously) and one dubbed at 4. Every other movie only has two showings.

Just try to avoid looking too many related topics that could spoil it on Twitter/Reddit.
(Most) Anime fans excel at spoiling literally everything, be it from overexcitement or just not caring one way or another.

We get it you are sad but stop with this doom and gloom. There are multiple anime movies in the world that don't make half of this but deserve more. Its been countable hours and piracy is a battle for years. You expect it to magically get solved in a few hours because of this movie? Also wait for the impact on BO before commenting again. I DON'T think you understand US BO yet so try to observe and learn.

You haven't seen the best of the series yet then. Episode 18-19 are absolutely the best of the lot.

Just observe the US BO back to normalcy, you will learn a lot about the market at this point.

Re: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (INTL - #1 WW Film of 202
X-Men Origins Wolverine leaked before it even came out. Now those were the days! It still opened well at $85M, but I think the early poor reception (and poor reception for the previous film even though it had a cool final battle) affected it more than people watching on the internet. Demon Slayer won’t have that issue at least.

I expected the movie would get $15-20M in the whole Europe before this accident but now? maybe $10M only?

Re: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (INTL - #1 WW Film of 202
Most movies see an increase in US market because of some discounts on concessions or movie tickets.
Surprised that we didn't get MK numbers yet. I thought it would be other way around and difficult to get DS numbers.
