So around 8m weekend like I thought. Next week will be interesting, think theaters are reopening in my area next week.

New Mutants should have done better. I don't think it's a good sign for Tenet next week even with more theaters opening.

Unfortunately we won't get any Canadian TENET numbers as WB is keeping mum until (at least) the end of the weekend - same here in Germany or in France or other countries (even though the German opening is certainly nothing to sneeze at)

One potential concern from Canada box office numbers was I saw more sellouts on Wed vs Fri from a sample set.

On the plus side, the weekend's box office winner will double their box office tally to $8 M! :P

I'm just so amused that New Mutants out of all films ended up being one of the first post-COVID releases. There must have been something in the contract that stipulated it HAD to be a major theatrical release.

More likely that Disney found it too violent to put on +. I haven't seen it though, so can't say for sure.

So, unlike Unhinged, this one came in far below where it normally would have (which still would not have been that high.) Bad news for Tenet.

I honestly don't think Mutants was ever going to pull a Mad Max. If anything its famously troubled production and missed release dates (It was filmed in 2017!) getting chopped up to a "pandemic" victim is probably the best outcome it could have hoped for.

Now Disney can completely start fresh on X-Men outside of Deadpool, which is good because that's a simple one off joke from the beginning where he doesn't even have to explain that the continuity is all fucked up.

Bill and Ted on the other hand was probably looking at Dumb and Dumber Too type of numbers.

Not a promising number for New Mutants, but it was likely destined to fail under normal circumstances anyway, so I don't think it's a good film to gauge the state of the box-office. Tenet will tell us how things may be for the box-office for the next several months.

Legs for New Mutants should be interesting. It's probably gonna play for awhile lol considering lack of upcoming releases.
