Post Disney's Live Action HERCULES
So it is semi confirmed that Disney will be making a live action version of their 1997 animated film Hercules.

Produced by the Russo Bros - this looks to be their big 2022 or 2023 live action remake.

I usually frown upon these remakes but I feel this one has potential and a lot more room to out gross the original if cast right and the visuals are nailed.

Thoughts? Predictions?

Too early but yes this might do well. I wonder if they will cast Rock for this one ;)

With the other failed Hercules attempts, this is really boom or bust. Keeping it a musical would be a good idea.

This is stupid. There’s a new Hercules every year.

And they all fail to live up to the animated movie. Which is tremendous.

I'm in if they cast Tate Donovan.

Clash of the Titans remakes kinda stole its thunder no? We've already seen Greek gods on the big screen. Granted, those films were awful.

After the success of Aladdin, maybe Guy Ritchie would be up for The Sword in the Stone remake?

Guy Ritchie isn't fantastical enough for Sword in the Stone. It's 90% magic.

The thing about Hercules is that if it blew up it has Iron Man potential, you could make 15 other greek god movies with mega worldwide appeal based on individual trilogies for characters and then the team up movies, all based on the first movie's tone like the MCU was Iron Man. So even though that's proven incredibly elusive it's worth shooting their shot.

Peter Pan is being remade now. They're talking about Jude Law for Captain Hook, but I feel like Hugh Jackman would be the right choice .. for some reason. Maybe Joe Wright as the director?

Peter Pan is another one that’s had far too many adaptations

Clash came out in 2010. Rock's Hercules came out in 2014. I think that one will have equal effect.

Granted, this will have all the gods and what not. Since this would come out at 2022 at earliest, I think it has strong potential. And yeah, you can do a whole series based on different Greek gods. There is basically 5-10 movies in there, if the first one becomes a major hit.

Momoa would have been an amazing choice, but Aquaman will most likely prevent this. Aquaman is already very much like a Greek god.

Didn't Jackman already play Blackbeard in one of the adaptations? Think it was 2015. Don't see him working out as Hook. Plus Peter Pan has way too many adaptations, it's not going to fly.

Yes I was making the same joke that I did with Sword and the Stone a few posts up but nobody thinks I’m funny I guess. :(

Disney should jump ahead of the trend and make Hercules a menimist film. Don't wait for the social movement, start the social movement!
