Here's the new trailer:

Gotta say, it's not too different from the one that's been around for what feels like forever, and I prefer that one. Better music, feels more epic, and doesn't show as much. The train splash in the new trailer feels cheap.

Nice poster but the small diving man+bike at the top feels out of place. And there's too many women on it.

He looks great but he needs to lay off the fillers/botox now. Any more and he will start to look unnatural and it's not believable for a secret spy agent to have a cosmetic touch-up every three months.

I will be very relieved once MI:8 wraps and Tom Cruise's emerges still alive.

Of course there were reports of him wanting to film a movie in space so maybe he's not ready to stop being a stuntman after the Mission Impossible franchise.

I believe that plan is all but over. I seem to recall reading some news about that.

Tickets for Dead Reckoning Part 1 go on sale on Wednesday. Can't wait for presales data. I'm also not expecting huge numbers initially, but I believe nearer opening it will do reall well and especially with walkups.

I hope they can rerelease it on imax at the end of the summer like with Maverick last year. I won't be able to make it to NY in July but late August could be doable!

Blue Beetle is a dud just cancel it for the tax write off!

Yeah, Blue Beetle seems to fall into the same category as Shazam! or that Owen Wilson superhero movie from last year or the year before. It's superhero fluff.

Blue Beetle may have a better chance than Shazam as its DC's first superhero movie with a Latino lead.

Given how influential and lucrative the Hispanic/Latino demo has become at the box office feel it could pick up if it is decent quality.

Got my tickets for a Monday screening, and most of the one in my area are already half full even though tickets just went on sale this morning. Seems promising.

Miles is half latino, but I get your point. It just looks so generic and the same 'oh haha look at how silly this all is nudge nudge' in the same way that Shazam is.

Presales for MI7 have started and this is complex. There are walmart+ standard shows on sunday at 3PM. There are early PLF shows on Monday evening and previews start at tuesday 2PM and so it has extended weekend as well.

Presales are not bad so far but nothing crazy. That said this should hopefully finish very strong with great reviews. I am still hopeful this will open to 125m until its opening Sunday.

I've seen a lot of funny stuff but a 5 day weekend will now have previews counted starting the previous weekend on Sunday?! They are going really hard for a big OW but these previews counting for OW are getting ridiculous, especially 3 days of previews going into the earlier weekend!

Well, not that I agree, but there's a lot riding on this, they can't have it look weak. They've got another whole film already in the can that they need positivity snowballing into.

The problem for Cruise is there's no way this won't be deemed a disappointment in one way or another. It's following TGM!

It could make $300M+ and still it will probably get a bad reception here or there for being so much lower than TGM and losing half of the box office. Even if it doesn't make any sense.

The B+O is a major issue and they are probably pushing previews so early because they expect a very steep second weekend drop with the competition and loss of premium screens.

Still more commentating on the industry as a whole. Movies used to start at midnight, now they are starting the previous weekend for "previews." :P

Anything above $250M should be considered a win for the movie, as that would make it the biggest M:I movie adjusted for inflation since 2, and Cruise's biggest non-Maverick hit ever unadjusted, and his biggest non-Maverick hit adjusted since War of the Worlds. And since early word is great it would help with building hype for the final installment next year, and maybe give him some much-needed juice for whatever the next chapter of his career ends up being.

I get a feeling Cruise will be quite vocal and blame theaters, probably Nolan, and others if it "only" does $250 million. $250 million would be great as mentioned, and I think there's room for more too, but yeah, anything under... $350/400 million will probably draw some "disappointment" discussion.

(Anything less than that, and $1 billion WW, in general seems to be subject, unfairly, to these discussions these days though, at least on social media. It's exhausting.)

Yeah, so I think it's important to note that as box office followers we must strive to not fall into the trap, and remember that Dead Reckoning Part 1 is not a sequel to Top Gun: Maverick, it is a sequel to Fallout which did $220 million domestically and $790m worldwide, and we must judge it accordingly.

Otherwise it runs the risk of being another Thor: Love & Thunder where everyone was disappointed by its gross because they were expecting huge things after No Way Home rather than comparing it to Ragnarok, which it beat domestically and would have equalled if it had China.
