The Grudge - 4
Shall We Dance? - 3
Shark Tale - 2
Friday Night Lights - 2
Ladder 49 - 1
Surviving Christmas - 1
Taxi - 1
Raise Your Voice - 1
I've VERY surprised The Grudge is getting 4 screens. I didn't see that happening. Shall We Dance? increased by 1 screen, everything else stayed the same pretty much except ofr Ladder 49 which dropped a screen and Team America which lost two screens, and we got rid of The Forgotten and Shaun of the Dead.

The Grudge 12:40 PM, Kerasotes 14
8 People in a 265 seater
Trailers:
Boogeyman produced by Sam Raimi – Looks retarded
White Noise – Horror with Michael Keaton – Looks interesting
Seed of Chucky – Looks dumb
The Grudge has the same flickering movements by the ghosts/whatever just like Samara in The Ring. Where as The Ring made sense in terms of its why Samara did what she did, this doesn’t. This movie is too disjointed and several subplots patched together towards a predictable ending. There are some scary scenes. Overall could and should have been better.
BTW the entire movie is set in Tokyo and a lot of Subtitles involved.
Grade: D

Well, The Grudge was sold out all night at my theatre. I was out (not at the movies), but my friend went and told me.
The 10:40 and 11:15 shows are also sold out.

The 7:15 PM showing did better. It sold all but 30 tickets. I expect the late showings to do the most business.

Actually, The Grudge is sold out almost everywhere around here.
The last time I remember so many sell-outs for these theaters was the opening night of Alien Vs. Predator.
It looks like it may have a shot at destroying The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's $28M opening from last year.

I'm sure it will. Of course I played it safe and went with $27.4, but my gut was telling me $30 million at the least. It has absolutely everything going for it.

Looks in line with the yahoo review numbers. People thought I was nuts a couple hours ago for suggesting 11m-14.5m.

You still are. Just kidding, but if it does get that high, people must have thought that this was the sequel to the Ring or something. It would also have a massive 2nd weekend drop, 60%+.

...or people actually wanted to see it?
Now, there's a thought.

And the internal multiplier this weekend should be pretty bad too. There won't be much room to increase on Saturday. It won't be as bad as AVP since it's October, but it should be worse than Team America.

There was definently an audience out there. My whole class was talking about The Grudge today at school, and most are going this weekend. I WAS going tonight, but now I don't have a ride.
Oh well, tomorrow.

I think it will have a better internal mutliplier then Team America. Remember TA is rated R. Those films tend to get lower internal multipliers at this time of the year.

I get worried about this. I haven't heard many good things about the movie so far, and I still don't think it looks all that bad.
