Great news. Also a good indicator that it'll achieve the main goals I've mentioned over the weekend if the IMAX share it high.

OW: ¥1,177,445,400 ($10.8 million) / 760,000 admissions
7-Day: ¥3,338,422,400 ($30.6 million) / 2,194,533 admissions

Huge, to say the least. Its opening weekend is even higher than its predecessors despite the Monday opening. All three goals were achieved and them some: Biggest March OW, and ¥3 billion and 2 million admissions in 7-days. I'll update the various charts tomorrow. And I'll do the math tomorrow, but it's also one of the ten fastest films to exceed ¥3 billion (thinking...7th/8th perhaps off the top of my head).

Mugen Train movie will be available Bluray and DVD June 16 in Japan.

3 months left for the ultimate ¥40B milestone mark huh....

Corpse, it is currently at ¥38.6B, is it possible for it to get another ¥1.4B in 3 months left?

A lot. Here's the timeline:

March 27th: Dolby Cinema expansion; 5th giveaway (sticker sheet).
April 3rd: 6th giveaway (Two A6 illustration cards)
May 29th-30th: Cast stage greetings at select theaters.
June 16th: Home video release on Blu-Ray/DVD, which will included a limited edition version with special artwork, a bonus DVD featuring the stage greeting from Oct. 17th, and a bonus CD of the film's soundtrack. I believe June marks it's 5th anniversary.

It lost 4dx screens to Evangelion and has slowed down considerably from the high of lost three weeks. There is another push from giveaways coming soon.

And these gifts, do you think they're going to have a big impact on DS's box office?

Definitely. It probably would have slowly crawled there regardless of the giveaways, but they'll certainly get it above ¥40 billion. Each has a 1 million print, and assuming both sell out, that's another 2 million admissions there alone. And with them being handed out on March 27th and April 3rd, just a few weeks away, it'll likely get there soon after.

Of course. Just look at what the past giveaways did for it. The biggest fans aren't going to pass up receiving limited items for their collections.

It also seems to have stabalized again as it's up today versus last Monday. Need to see how the rest of the week plays out, but I'd expect it's back to its staying flat (or slightly increasing/decreasing) ways since its first full week out of 4DX is over.

Assuming that both giveaways sell out of their 1 million print run, that'd give it another 2 million admissions on top of what it makes normally between now and June 16th. We'll need to see how the giveaway weekends/week behave, but I don't think they'd issue a 1 million print run for each if they weren't expecting to move them.

Also, the Dolby Cinema expansion is a pretty big deal, too. If anyone can remember, the Violet Evergarden film received this expansion last year and that really benefitted its run since fans could reexperience it again in a new format. Same should be true here, just perhaps on a larger scale since Demon Slayer's fanbase is bigger than any property in history.

And the next giveaway and the Dolby Cinema expansion both occur over Spring Break, too.

lmao they really planned everything to reach 30 million admissions and ¥40bn, I'm sure that was calculated and planned for a long time. Now it remains to be seen if Demon Slayer fans will be there.

Think KnY has any records that it can break in the Blu Ray side of things?

This was recorded in 2017, so pretty outdated.

**1位 4,182,657 Spirited Away
**2位 2,477,581 Frozen
**3位 2,246,308 Finding Nemo
**4位 1,910,349 Totoro
**5位 1,590,372 Monsters Inc
**6位 1,503,707 Princess Mononoke
**7位 1,380,725 Howl's Moving Castle
**8位 1,117,290 Castle in the Sky
**9位 1,073,750 Beauty and the Beast
*10位 1,029,949 Aladdin
*11位 *,998,826 Toy Story
*12位 *,965,684 Nausicaa
*13位 *,955,496 Ponyo
*14位 *,839,377 Evangelion 2.0
*15位 *,836,601 Kiki's Delivery Service
*16位 *,806,052 The Incredibles
*17位 *,745,830 Toy Story 2
*18位 *,716,787 Cars
*19位 *,638,384 Your Name (NEW)

Considering YN has sold 905k to date (source from somekindofthing's post here on movie BD sales), seems unlikely to have as much of a substantial impact here, especially with the decline of the physical industry and rise of digital media.

Could still sell incredibly well though. ufotable is currently trending at #7 on JP twitter because of the amount of people accessing their website trying to preorder and subsequently crashing it a lot. Still a lot of demand despite popularity calming down.

It's going to be difficult to break the home video records (first week sales, overall sales), but if anything does it, it'll be Demon Slayer. There isn't really a medium it hasn't broken the records in yet.

I know the video prices are significantly higher than a movie ticket or manga volume, but I still think a majority of those that bought the final few volumes in their first week will buy the Blu-ray/DVD, especially since the limited edition includes special art, a bonus DVD AND a bonus CD. Preorders going live now gives them time to produce more since it's 3 months out.

With all the giveaway in theaters, many of the fans have already come out to see the film 3, 4, 5+ times (and it'll get more repeats when it hits Dolby Cinema locations in 2 weeks too) and have spent just as much in movie tickets as the home video release will cost them. And getting a copy of the special edition release is going to be a scalper's dream come true, so they'll be out in droves.

I mean, they're printing 1 million sticker sheets to give out to moviegoers in 2 weeks, the film's 24th week in release... They know they're millions who are going to come out again for those, even at this late stage, even if some have already watched it five times.

*Modern = Post-Previews/Early Showings Era. More accurate to compare opening weekends from 2008-Present to one another since a lot of big films had previews (sometimes equal to or bigger than their actual openings) added to their openings before 2008. Eiren ruled that studios could no longer practice this in 2010.
