Slightly related: I just realized how MASSIVE 2004 is for blockbusters now taking into account inflation. Shrek 2 - $510,145,700 Spider-Man 2 - $431,939,800 The Passion of the Christ - $428,680,800 For a BO decade like this, that's pretty insane. I doubt we'll see this happen again till maybe 2012 with TDK2, TF3, Avengers, and Hobbit II possibly all coming out that year, but I still find it difficult given how close they could be with each other. Meanwhile, the best case scenario for 2010-2011 are two 425m+ films. |

Remember the good old days when inflation for movie tickets were just 50%+ increases over a decade. Now it feels like we're seeing 100%+ increases.  2022 ticket price: $12.09 +32.0% 2019 ticket price: $9.16 Seems Spidy + TG's massive overperformances could also be heavily helped by a nearly 32% increase in average ticket prices over the last 3 years. Minions 1 will adjust to nearly $492M at this rate so very well could lose 30% of its audience and still top the last one. |

I would argue theaters were actually undercharging pre cover. It's basically live entertainment; whatever entertainment of that scale is sold at such a low price? |

True on undercharging. We're definitely set for some massive box office tallies. Endgame (2019) would now be at $471M/$1.1B so would not be shocked to see a $1B+ film in the next 2 years at this rate and a $500M+ opener before 2025 as well. |

Tough to say. End Games admissions would almost certainly be lower in 2022 than they were in 2019. |

Most theaters have also added a "premium fee" to blockbusters, which are pretty much the only movies being released these days since most of the smaller budget films go right to streaming. How do the subscription services factor in to the average price though? |

Wasn't exactly sure about all of what went into that number. It was a number I found earlier in a Variety or THR article of the average 2022 ticket price a few weeks back. It for sure would have gone up due to moviegoers seeing more PLF but don't think it would have included subscriptions. |

number of PLF screens are expanding big time. Most cinemark theaters have multiple XD screens and on top of it blockbusters have higher ticket price during OW. Plus some of the "early shows" have even higher ticket price. I remember for TGM tuesday show was $25 at my local AMC Dolby while weekend was $20(morning show was $17). |

We do know that movies like NWH or TGM had ATP in the $12 range in their opening weeks (thanks, deadline) but not only are those estimates only for big blockbusters (which I assume overindex in the most expensive regions like the coasts) but they are only for OW (which you'd expect to have the highest ATP of a movie's theatrical run due maximum PLF screens and the whole "dynamic" pricing phenomenon). Hopefully we get numbers for 2022 since we are post pandemic. I would assume it to be somewhere in the $10-$10.5 range. |

ATP was $10 in 2021. Bigger films goes around $11-11.5, till 2019 it was around $10.5 and remained so from 2010 onwards due to 3D. |
