I do think it will change otherwise that would one of the worst release strategies of all time. They could just release both movies on streaming instead and that might give them more money. |

It should do well as long as it doesn't stream online together. Morbius could surprise but it needs a bigger marketing budget. I feel that Sony has hopes for a new franchise with it so they are holding on to Morbius and maybe they spent a lot with the amount of delays the movie had and they don't yet recognize it will flop regardless. |

$100 million is a lot to turn down. Amazon picking off releases like this that fall between the studio streaming service cracks, with their limitless bank account, could be something to expect for a bit. Not saying I "like" it, of course. Just that it's probably the "safer" bet for Sony. How much would it have needed to gross after all the shares are removed to best Amazon's offer? I wonder how Brian Hull feels about it all. He's a YouTube character impersonator and mega-Disney fan who got cast as Dracula for this film. He was super excited to announce it when the film got scheduled for July... I'm sure he got something for voicing the role, but hopefully this doesn't cut into any other earnings if the film was successful at the box office. One thing for an A-list Hollywood star to lose out on some money if their films go to streaming, but it's another for a somewhat-popular YouTube personality who would rely a lot more on it. |

Indeed $100m is more than production budgets of previous outings so Sony would be banking small profit out of it with physical media and pretty minimal marketing yet they were good money makers overall thus the third sequel. Plus it's the final of the franchise so it should have received theatrical treatment. |
