People trying to escape the bleak reality of a mild apocalyptic scenario by watching a movie about a harsher apocalyptic scenario.

Checked it (DER ROSENKRIEG = WAR OF THE ROSES, DAS DSCHUNGELBUCH = THE JUNGLE BOOK)

Studios started to report weekly charts in the summer of 1987, so only JUNGLE BOOK's re-releases of 1987 and 1993 are counted (the 2000 re-release didn't make it to the top). Including the 1968 and 1979 re-release the total No. 1s should be at least something like 25...

This weekend a surprise No. 1...

In a couple of hours we will know if the government extends the lockdown by three or by four weeks...

So lockdown was just extended 'til April 18th (we're in lockdown since November 1st)...

And in other news: GREENLAND got its 15th weekend at the top last week...

How do you project Demon Slayer to do in the German box office?

I don't believe movie theaters will be open by April 29th - so way too early to tell how DS will do...

My guess is theaters will open May 20th/May 27th or June 3rd/June 10th - so there will be a lot more shuffling of release dates...

If government goes along, German movie theaters will re-open July 1st

Probably a dozen theaters (plus drive-ins) are open in Germany right now...

Still waiting for confirmation of the Thursday numbers by the distributor, but my first trend would be $60,000 in 6 theaters for the weekend...

Austria opens today...
