2 out of 9 Austrian states are going into lockdown again, it's just a matter of time until the first German states will do the same...

Covid is choking b.o. again... looks like Ghostbusters (130,000 admissions) will barely hold off 007's eighth weekend (110,000)...

Bavaria (2nd biggest state in Germany) will put tough restrictions on movie theaters next week. I guess that most Bavarian theaters will decide to close even though there's no official lockdown...

Just 498 admissions difference between No. 1 and No. 2...

And the first couple of movies are being postponed...

B.O. is in the toilet again... Not one movie will exceed the 100k admissions mark this weekend (probably) as the people await a nationwide lockdown announcement in the next 5-15 days...

Lockdown in Saxony, partial lockdown in Bavaria plus much tougher restrictions in most of Germany and voilà the box office is a disaster again...

Definitely sucks. Is there a deadline, or is it just wait and see what happens?

Next meeting of the 16 state governors and the federal government is on Thursday - we'll see what will happen...
A nationwide lockdown is highly unlikely as the northern states are doing much better. But it's the tough restrictions that knocks the theaters down. More and more states adopt the socalled 2G+ policy.

Theaters could survive with the 2G policy, meaning you have to prove that you are either vaccinated or recovered. But the + stands for an additional covid test taken on the same day. That's too much to ask for most moviegoers...

Yes, pre-sales are off to a very good start - personally I would think 600k+ right now - will have to wait and see how things are going the next couple of days...
