excel called us all retarded when we predicted (or even considered the possibility of) less than $200m.

Excel needs to go back to second grade english so that some of us can start to understand what he's saying. I sometimes have to read his post 5 times before I understand it.

Seriously, Superman Returns is pretty much done this weekend. Without the re-expansion it might not even reach $195 million.

Is it even possible for SR to do anymore then The Passion Recut? Maybe a bit more considering it wont be out on dvd yet, but no more then 1m.

They should just put it in the dollar theaters and make the same amount of cash.

Nono, it'll make more, but I see it very similar to Pearl Harbor, another big budget-disappointment. It was at $195.5 million before the Labor Day weekend and was re-expanded to 1,000 theatres over it in hope to reach $200 million. It failed and finished with $198.5 million, heh. So, I do think with a proper re-expansion Supes can make around $3-4 million more, but probably not enough for the big 200.

You think it'll get expanded to over 1,000 theaters though? I was thinking it'll just get 300 or so.

Heh, that would not be a re-expansion, that's like getting into dollar theatres.

No, a proper re-expansuion means at least getting the movie into over 1,000 theatres overall like The Italian Job, Spy Kids and Pearl Harbor.

If they were smart, they would have marketed it right the first time and got $200m.

dont gimme that the days before its release everybody was praising its makreintg campaign and raising predictionds becuase superman was everywhere. that isnt what went wrong. fifth biggets opening week ever for a non sequel is huge considering its in ompany with passion, potter 1, wotw, and spider-man.

being too close to pirates i s what killed it, cause this a film that would need legs to get to the 250 million they wanted and when you open the week before pirastes itll obviously hurt your legs
