Hercules won't necessarily feel redundant as its take is so distinct from other Hercules movies, or just about anything based on Greek Myth, that it's practically INO. Of course, the question if the movie (Which was the only real Disney Renaissance tentpole to not make a hundred million), has grown a following.

Does the 1937 movie have any iconic song that is still remembered and considered catchy today? They are all so dated. I mean of course they are, the movie is 86 years old, but still! A more adventurous movie like The Jungle Book can work without having iconic songs but it seems harder to imagine a Disney princess movie pulling it off.

it has not started yet. I think its starting early next week and will have a short PS cycle. early tracking has it around 65m OW but let us wait for PS to confirm if there is buzz.

Presales started just few hours ago. Slightly smaller show count than Minecraft which is opening few weeks later. No sign of a breakout and it does not have lots of time to show its growth as we are already at the final stretch at this moment. Most breakouts start to show signs at this point.

In its favor is the Disney machine and being the first big profile family film since Mufasa/Sonic. Based on these family film drops clearly families are ready for something else.

What's NOT in its favor is hearing stuff like there would be not red carpet for the premiere to avoid Snow White from speaking.

I'm remembering a March "big 3" of Captain Marvel, Us and the disappointment of the three at the time, Dumbo. This year there is just the Dumbo.

March has been stacked year after year. Not sure how you go from mega stacked March slates like 2019, 2023 and 2024 to this dismal slate.

Atleast SW has an empty marketplace to open in which should help it a little.

I've heard that Disney may be looking to go back to that 2D animated format. I think it makes sense these live actioners have worn out their welcome and are SO expensive. 2D animation would improve margins for sure and feel ironically fresh.

A traditional 2D animated Lion King sequel I feel could do pretty well. Back to 90s nostalgia. Mufasa by a miracle legged its way to $250M+ but feel the opportunity for a quality 2D animated film is much higher.

I don't think new theatrical animated sequels that wipe the DTV ones from canon are what anyone wants. People just want them to make good animated films again. They need to rebuild their brand

I am expecting mediocre reviews overall. Disney Live Action has not had good reviews since Jungle Book. This is not going to change that trend for sure.

Everything is all over the place right now. General sense is that it's going to be awful, perform awfully, and be an embarrassment akin to Cats. But then I see articles saying it captures the magic of the original animated film. I really don't know what to think. I probably haven't been this interested in a movie's opening reaction/performance in years.

Zegler does actually look like the Snow White from the original. I mean, as much as a real human can. Any backlash against her is purely because she is not technically caucasian, which is just ridiculous and racist. Coinciding with Trump's second presidency where he is actively against outsiders is probably not a coincidence.

The haircut doesn't work for me compared to her Hunger Games look. The evil queen being hotter messes up the jealousy storyline. Maybe it doesn't matter as much as say people not liking the CGI dwarves, though.

The hotness is a matter of preference. I prefer Zegler. She is cuter, more feminine. Never liked Gadot. She is too tall and manly, and her face just doesn't do it for me. So I think many others will think like that. And you're always going to get some for and some against. I don't think for a second that every person that saw Barbie thought Margot Robbie was the most attractive choice for the role.
