Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
I think this is a conceptual home run but that was a very poorly edited and underwhelming trailer. Superman was much more a barn burner than this one.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
The cinematography looks the same as most big movies. But the production design is interesting. I didn't know it was set in the 1950s or 60s. It looks cool, especially since being set in those times means it won't be pandering to the modern black bias seen in 99.99% of other films or TV. Anyway it is an effective teaser, but I am not convinced by the cast. What's interesting is they're keeping Doom and Mr. Fantastic's abilities hidden for now. One to watch.

Looks good and could have appeal to both sides politically.

This reminds me of 00s superhero films and then a less exciting one, i think it should be happy if it does 120-140m, however i dont know gen z, maybe they'll dig it?

This looks ok, as long as Thunderbolts and Cap don’t bomb can’t see OW going below 100m

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
Yeah, I still expect it will do well. The money shots haven't been show yet, and I also cannot get a grip on what youngsters like. I suspect it is anything that opposes convention like most generations.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
It's only a teaser.
Yes, there is no WOW factor but best to leave that to a main trailer closer to release as I'm sure they still have money shots to put forward (incl. a glimpse of RDJ as DOOM if need be) plus the Silver Surfer and more Galactus.
For now, a major plus is the 60s aesthetic and the fact that the cinematography and production design are a (much needed) departure from generic MCU.
Let's see.

I definitely regret choosing 326-350m in the poll

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
This was so vanilla. Vanessa Kirby looks fantastic but this was a poorly edited trailer.
They had to know it would instantly be compared to Superman and yet they put out something so basic.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
I dont think Pascal and Kirby look good together. That said MCU have the biggest fan base and they might help with BO. Cap 4 is doing very well in PS. So we have to see how Cap 4 and Thunderbolts are received. That might make or break this movie.
Of course they will up the ante and reveal Downey's Doom appearing in this even briefly. That could take hype to another level.

Maybe I just don't like the fantastic four. I think the trailer is fine. Superman was fine too. No wow factor at all though to either. I can't get excited because they have a car, this isn't the mid 90s

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
While F4 could reveal more later, Captain America is selling way more of a real story arc. You could make the same movie where Mackie is just some agent fighting bad guy president and it would at least make sense as a thriller, even if not as big. Nobody would care about some 60s family going to space if they weren't the F4. If Captain America does better maybe that is the path going forward. Or maybe that's just me being hopeful that people's taste isn't just IP driven.

Vanessa's Wikipedia is confused if she's 36 or 37 (lol) so she's probably actually in her 40s. Compare that to fresh-faced Ioan Gruffud and Jessica Alba who were in their 20s.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
You couldn't cast a twentysomething in today's world because it would be the Jacob Elordi's of the world, and none of those actors carry any respect. It would be just as bad as that Michael B. Jordan piece of crap. I am fine with the casting in terms of the ages.

Really should move to November. Then Disney can push Elio to the end of summer and let that have room to breathe too. They're being hella stubborn right now. The release dates were not the number one key to success for Inside Out and Deadpool lol.

Re: The Fantastic Four: First Steps Predictions
I think the casting is good for Sue and Reed. Not sold on Johnny Storm though. Not a fan of Joseph Quinn (though he was OK in Gladiator II I guess).
Regarding the release date - early November would be good for it and at one stage it was a sure thing they were going to move it but now not so sure.
Elio needs to move either way. Even if it is one week later than current or even go up against F1 and Megan 2.0. Jurassic World the following week won't have the bite of previous entries in the franchise.
