A theory would be he's making multiple parts allowing Holland to be lead of the first with his expected character Telemachus.

Filming locations confirmed:
Sicily (Favignana), UK and Morocco. Apparently according to scholars, this Sicily location was where Odysseus’ wanderings took place in the epic composed by Homer around 8th century BCE.
Visually at least the movie is going to be pretty epic. This feels like a David Lean type film told Nolan style.

 Re: Nolan’s The Odyssey - July 17, 2026
I’ve cooled on Nolan since the oughts and teens (Oppenheimer was very good but also a little ‘shrug’ I guess in subject matter for me (historical biographies don’t excite me); never saw Dunkirk or Tenet), but this one is a high water mark in terms of anticipation since Interstellar (which is probably my favorite of his). Stoked to see what he does with a high scale, classic fantasy story. And the cast is bananas (why can’t these actors be set in the past? I don’t get those opinions that it ‘feels modern’ at all). Could be very big if done well, which I assume it will be. I’m guessing it’ll land between Oppy and Dark Knight in gross. wOoT!

I like that he's changing things up here. I'm not a big Nolan fan and kinda put off many of his films because of his style (which isn't bad or anything, it's just something I need to be in the mood for).
And maybe we'll get a proper epic here. There are many Greek myth films, but nearly all of them that choose to adapt a myth either Hollywood it up too much or stray a bit too far from the stories where they'd had been better off just being "inspired by" films doing their own thing instead.

Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin and Samantha Morton join the cast.
Page was famously in Inception with Leo.
Himesh and Bill from Tenet. Samantha is new to the Nolan world.

Bill Irwin voiced Tars in Interstellar. He could be doing the voice for Cyclops here.
Rumors are around Mia Goth joining the cast as well. only Branaugh is missing here. I would be surprised if his new charm is missing among the cast.

Nolan said he didn't know who Harry Styles was when he put him in Dunkirk. I think there's at least a 25% chance he doesn't realize Elliot Page is the same person he directed in Inception.
