Strangers is looking to do 3x its budget (idk if that 8m is for all 3 films? If it is $$$) so good for that.

Garfield cost $60M which is pretty impressive considering 2004's version was $50M. Spiderverse was obviously a resounding success but even Lyle, Lyle Crocodile pulled $111M ww from a $50M budget so their animation arm seems to be producing hits. Garfield is already at $98M ww so likely headed for at least $150M+. Good on them for learning how to make profitable films.

Furiosa meanwhile with a $165M budget. Fury Road had a $154M-185M budget range reported so interesting how they can not bring back the old stars and still almost have the same budget.

Also don't get me started on KFP4 stalling at $194M and GvsK $197M. :er:

Furiosa is the biggest flop since The Marvels.

Furiosa budget $168M
Furiosa OW $25.5M
OW / Budget % ratio = 15.2% (Probably 13.5-14% without inflated Sunday)

Marvels budget $270M
Marvels OW $46.1M
OW/ Budget % ratio = 17.1%

Marvels actually had a better OW / budget % ratio than Furiosa and also opened first weekend of Nov. vs May long weekend.

But Marvels was at the tail end of full on superhero movie floppage of 2023 so will still probably get the worst press overall, especially following a $426M film (which was purely because it was 6 weeks before End Game).

But data wise, Furiosa could be in one category seen as WORSE than Marvels.

This is painful for Furiosa (though the total ratio could end up more friendly than the Marvels)

John Carter opened to 40.9 million inflated (By the way how was this released in 2012? I would have guessed like 2006). 2015 F4's is 32.8. Terminator Dark Fate 34.1. Catwoman 28.9. Furiosa can beat Elektra's 21.5 at least, but the latter weirdly opened in January.

Furiosa's performance is so bad that it retroactively makes Fury Road less of a hit. $153M/$369M on a $150M budget isn't really all that great. The glowing reception, strong legs and oscar nominations made it seem like WB had struck gold by successfully reviving a dead franchise. Nine years later and they have nothing positive to show for it.

Furiosa's 3-day went up to 26.3m... so I guess that's a little better lol

Fall Guy legs are decent.

Garfield went down.

And they're still estimates so it could change more

I assumed IF could make it to 100 mil after 33.7 opening but at 58.7 and dropping from holiday weekend next week it just seems far away right now.

After previews Furiosa's dailies were 6.8/8.3/7.6/6. Had opening been bigger these would have been good holds but yeah, hard to tell if this will leg out to more than $80m total.

Yeah, but weekdays will increase and I can recheck the schedule, but I don’t think it has any new direct competition soon.

Impressed that If's Monday was it's biggest # of the weekend.

Fall Guy's PTA only dropped 6.9% from last weekend. IMpressive considering it's already released on digital.

Garfield's consistency in its dailies is also encouraging at least until Inside Out 2 is released. Strong chance to beat $75,369,589 from the original (2004 version) unadjusted.
