25. The haters are gonna hate hate hate, but that doesn’t mean you can’t throw shade back. Taylor has done as many diss tracks as any rapper over the years, and this one is directed at all critics in general. Taylor gets mostly good reviews, but I guess the bad ones are always gonna be more noticeable. I’d probably be the same way. At least she was right about living in a big ole city, as the #32 track on this list shows. Though there are Mean people there as well.

24. Bad Blood is what happens when the wrong person was mean to Taylor. As mentioned, she has made plenty of diss tracks about her ex-lovers and various people in the entertainment industry, her arch-rival Kanye West being the most frequent victim. However, one might not even know the real story behind Blood, and just how trivial stealing dancers may have seemed at first, but how Swift took it as a personal version of Pearl Harbor. And let’s face it, Katy Perry hasn’t had a hit song since 1989 released in 2014, and I don’t think that’s a total coincidence.

23. We all know what it’s like to feel blue, but Taylor wants us to know what its like to feel Red. And I think she does a fairly good job of it. Red is a passionate color, and a dangerous one. It symbolizes love and anger, sex and violence. In this case she is remembering just such a romance in her head, burning red.

22. Cornelia Street is a very spacey song that puts you in the head of someone who has focus only for their lover. So much so that this place, this place she is just renting, would be intolerable to come back were she to ever not feel this way. It’s kind of like the later Narnia stories, where taking the people we know and love out of them makes it all less magical.

21. Taylor has compared her exes to various unflattering things throughout the years, but the worst is probably heroin (or pick another drug). Clean is all about withdrawal, and the bittersweet memories that helped her get through it. And even though the now mandatory bonus tracks changed up the order, I do consider this to be another killer album ender from her. So much emotion packed into such a dreamy rhythm.

Until tomorrow!

Yeah... imo All Too Well is Taylor's best song. I cry almost every time I hear it lol

Very interested in what you're number one is!

20. Taylor kicked off album #2 with its title track, Fearless. It’s definitely about the early stages of a new relationship, done in the most adorable way that only she can. But the song also works to draw in listeners who may not know much about Tay, or were perhaps turned off by the full-country sound from album #1. We’re dragged in head first towards a life with Ms. Pop Star Swift.

19. I Think He Knows is one of the most relaxed club-bangers I have ever heard. Which fits in with the rest of the Lover album. She doesn’t need to holler from the rooftops about her love anymore. This is for a private club, perhaps only inside her head. It is also the most Carlyish song she has done, and that's definitely not a bad thing. It’s like when Revolver inspired Pet Sounds which then later inspired Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

18. I don’t think there is much in the way of competition, but Hey Stephen is my favorite case of Taylor Swift humming alongside her own beat. Hey Stephen is about having a crush, but since Taylor is still young and awkward she can’t tell the guy in person. Turns out the Stephen in question was actually an opener for her tour, and that he had a crush on her too but was also too nervous to say anything. A little more understandable on his part, you don’t wanna let your libido blow a gig like that.

17. I Know Places worked well back in 2014, with now self-aware megastar Taylor reassuring a new man that their life won’t be run by the fame (and paparazzi) but works even better now that Taylor has successfully kept a lock on the relationship with Joe for so long. In fact, you can almost picture him seducing her with this song. The very public relationships with very public celebrities have worked well for her career, but in her heart and mind she craves those places they can hide away together.

16. Starlight finds Taylor in a period piece taking on the role of Ethel Kennedy. It’s a very fun tune that creates a music video in your head as it plays (even though it never got one). And it has a pretty sick guitar solo! The last one to ever feature on a Taylor album, hopefully she brings them back next time.

Almost to the top ten!

15. New Year’s Day is yet another excellent closing track, and also works as a transition from Reputation Taylor to the Lover Taylor. Why? Well it has the most realistic relationship goals of any song prior to this, and now she’s in an actual stable relationship. You want the midnights, the exciting times, but you have to deal with the messes that come with it or you’ll just be chasing those highs for the rest of your life.

14. Haunted is Taylor making an Evanescence-like song, and a good one at that. Though the country pop influence is still there, it’s got heavy elements of fantasy and horror. In this case, the scary story is realizing your relationship is about to end and the despair that comes with that resolution. It has a guitar solo too, but I think we’re all coming for the violins.

13. Tell Me Why is about Taylor’s journey with a very bipolar boyfriend. She likes him alot, wants him to be perfect, gushes when he says the right things, but then … he always turns into a huge dick. Like with a lot of songs on Fearless, she has to realize that just because she wants a situation to be perfect doesn’t mean everyone else is going to cooperate.

12. We Are Never … is the moment when Taylor went from the girl on the bleachers to the one leading the cheering squad. Or in this case, leading a party band full of furies. Honestly the furies are a little creepy though, and way too happy, and kind of take away from how impressive this single shot music video really is. All of this sounds disastrous of paper, but part of Taylor’s massive appeal is how she can change things up on the fly and make it work just as well as the sounds we knew and loved.

11. Call It What You Want may have a little too much production with that overbearing drum track, but as usual her lyrics and emotional sincerity more than make up for it. Much like New Year’s Day, this song feels like Taylor is leaving all the celebrity-feuding nonsense that plagued the Reputation era in favor of a relationship that’s actually healthy.

I should have time for another set in about two hours, and then it'll be up to Night Flava to summon the motivation to complete things...
