Apparantly results were audited and they discredited some sales for Levitating and radio counted more this week. So weird... Dua barely missed.

Damn it!!

Lame but I guess it is better than J Cole ... not by much.

Are they gonna audit again next week after whatever shenanigans the BTS army goes through to get their new song #1?

Two new songs at top positions on debut is better but I really want Levitating to reach #1.

Butter will probably be #1 next week and then g4u should stay #1 for awhile if it keeps at these streaming #s.

Butter without Bread is just fat.

Going to get my BTS chicken nuggets and cajun and sweet chili sauce today. (Missed opportunity not to include a Butter sauce though!) How many BTS meals is the equivalent of a physical single sale for Butter this week?

I hate BTS fans and their chart manipulation.

Billboard allows this but would not allow Dua to levitate at #1...ugh

Good 4 u had a record streaming week but still lost #1 lol

Deja vu managing to go top 3 is great though, probably my fave from Olivia.

Lol BTS army and their antics. Though it makes you wonder why other fanbases don’t pull this shit more often.

Sour also debuted with a very impressive 290k. That is more than Positions, and I believe second highest to only Evermore since they stopped counting the merchandise bundles. Can Billie top it?

Billie is gonna have vinyls ready on release day so that should help her out, idk if she'll top 300k though. We'll see.

Billie is going to disappoint IMO.

I bet Billie has more individual listeners than Rodrigo, but fewer streams overall. The album sales should put her over Sour and Evermore though. All the grammy wins gave her credibility with older listeners and it’s easily the most anticipated album of the year (maybe Kendrick could change that but he has been quiet for awhile now.)

She's releasing a new song in hours so I guess let's see how that does.

I quite like "Butter", but it doesn't feel like a #1 sort of song. I think the antics to get it to #1 actually make me like it less.

This Forbes article is a fairly interesting take on whether BTS' fans are ruining the Billboard charts or not. Can't say I disagree.

Post subject:  Re: Billboard chart discussion thread

He makes some good points, but gets a little too woke at the end and loses the overall point. Billboard specifically stopped counting merchandise bundles to stop this kind of thing. Yet BTS fans now buy multiple copies of all their singles? And then a mysterious and random audit keeps Dua Lipa from her first #1 just a few weeks before? Doesn’t make a lot of sense. The “hot remix” and the “even hotter remix” should count as separate songs.

Post subject:  Re: Billboard chart discussion thread

Remixes don't tend to count as separate songs though? Some artists even add another artist to an existing song, call it a remix and get to number one that way. Rihanna did it with Britney, The Weeknd did it with Ariana, and Jason Derulo used BTS for that exact purpose just last year.

Oh I'm aware it is commonly done, but if they're gonna close all these other loopholes then why leave that one open?

Because Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak want to "Leave that Door Open"
