Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Notable fact for the week as this is the first time Flowers has left the top 5 after spending 25 consecutive weeks there.

Yeah its definitely happening. Maybe not this week since it didn't have a full seven days of being cancelled, but next for sure.
I guess this is just gonna be how it is for a little while.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Looks like an unexpected 3 way race could happen for #1:
BTS member Jung Kook Jason Aldean Morgan Wallen
At least some shifting in the top ranks.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
The Small Town song is very mediocre. It could be a filler track on any country album. I know it's spiking because of CMT removing the video, but c'mon... At least Last Night is a bit catchy.
Rooting for Jung to take #1 for a week.

Jung wins
I read Gunna - fukumean backwards first and I thought his rapper name was fukumean. That would've been amazing.

What song will Travis be pushing? Utopia has a lot of really good choices.

A new #1 this week. Aldean tops the Hot 100, followed by Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs.
Country hits take the Hot 100’s top three spots in a single week for the first time ever in Billboard history.

Vampire being down to 10th already is a little disappointing. I'm not sure Rodrigo could have released a lead single that didn't go #1.

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Racist Cancelled country musicians are gonna rule these charts for the next year or so until Trump is president again and then hopefully the maga crowd will stop being so damn organized. Kid Rock will probably get his first #1 too.
Bummer too since I think Travis could have matched Taylor's 10/10 record next week if not for the strength of these maga songs. As is I think it'll go
1) Meltdown 2) Try That In A Small Town 3) Hyaena 4) Thank God 5) Modern Jam 6) Last Night 7) Fast Car 8) Fein 9) Delresto 10) God's Country

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Well I was way off. Travis sold 500k but Meltdown still wasn't strong enough to make it past the wall of country. Last Night will definitely pass Old Town Road now, but does it still count if it wasn't consecutive weeks?
In good news, Cruel Summer is up to #4.

You'd think Taylor will strike at the right time with a Cruel Summer remix to get #1

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
Cruel Summer has become an easy top 10 Taylor song for me, if not top 5 at this point. I liked it before, but hearing it so much on the radio and actively listening to it on my own has really propelled it. Would be cool to see it go to #1 by the end of summer, although I'm guessing the gap between it and Last Night is huge?
At least the Small Town song dropped off. Last Night isn't bad, but as I said somewhere else, Small Town is super run-of-the-mill country album filler that was a sad #1.
What's driving Last Night, by the way? Where is it receiving most boost based on Billboard's standards to stay (or return now) at #1?

Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
I think Wallen and the other country guys have done well on Spotify
I saw someone bring up that it's Tik Tok friendly and I can see it with that condensed chorus with the title at the start compared to the imo superior song One Thing At A Time

What's driving Last Night, by the way? Where is it receiving most boost based on Billboard's standards to stay (or return now) at #1? I think Cruel Summer could actually wind up being her most iconic song at the end of her career. Like a Billie Jean / Little Less Conversation that just gets played wherever you go and nobody questions it. The decision to not release it as a single until 4 years after it came out will baffle musical historians, only increasing its renown. With Last Night, its a basic pop song with a southern accent which is the new hot sound apparently. This felt like a real changing of the guard top ten where the biggest Gen Z rapper basically makes a sequel to his biggest song featuring the biggest millenial rapper and it can't even get a week at #1. I also think the MAGA crowd has taken notes from the K-Pop crowd on how to manipulate the charts in their favor. Wallen might have enough juice to get to 20 weeks on his own, but if its close and he starts to fade you can bet they will rally around the idea of knocking a gay black dude out of the history books.

I came across a subreddit called MWWives. I think the female/gay country fans are thirsty for him.

I can't speak for females, they're pretty bizarre, but I wouldn't bet on many gays thirsting over Morgan Wallen (or Eminem). Well, maybe small town gays in the south or something.

Unfortunately disagree, I’m no Morgan Wallen fan but just watched a couple of his music videos… yeah he could go ahead and get it.
