It's weird that nothing in the last 2 years has been a real threat to Despacito, Shape of You or See You Again. You would think the trend would be only bigger videos

Streaming is easier than watching youtube though. I feel like there was a 4/5 year period before the streaming boom where tube was people’s main source of music.

I wonder what song will dethrone Despacito. It's just so far above anything else looks unreachable

The official NFL video for Shakira and J'Lo's Halftime Show is going to crack 50 million views in 24 hours. This, of course, doesn't include the NFL Espanol video or any other official videos that have been posted.

Generating so many views in 24 hours doesn't always translate to longevity, but the very significant Latin America and general Latino YouTube audience could keep this video going for quite some time. Both artists are also big on YouTube, Shakira in particular (two 2 billion videos, three 1 billion vidoes).

1 billion views is the new 100 million.
Shocked when I saw a recent top 10 list. There are 10-11 videos with over 3 billion views!

I think youtube isn’t recommending old videos as much as it used to. They are more and more frontloaded. ME! got 60m in one day but has yet to reach 300m.

Well, 4 music videos are ahead of Gangnam Style. 5 (Sorry) if you count lyric videos, which I said I would. 7 if you count kids videos.

My question now is when Gangnam style will be out of the top ten for pre-2020 videos. Stuff like Counting Stars, Thinking Out Loud, and Faded are getting closer.
