Post Overrated things
I was thinking with this week’s timing how fireworks are high on my list of overrated things. I’d put beer and tomatoes on there as well

What are yours?

Beer is great if you find the right kind.

Tomatos are only good for ketchup.

Fireworks are annoying. How about expanding that to holidays in general? I don't like when calendars tell me what to do.

Halloween and Christmas I guess are fun events for kids (and I guess fireworks?), the adult ones are unnecessary though. No valentine's would mean anniversary levels up in importance, and I think Christmas would become more of the family meal event if there was no Thanksgiving. I would add one of those no internet/no electricity type of days in the West, and a good idea I heard a while back is that Leap Year day should be the ultimate holiday.

I've never understood the love for fireworks. I guess maybe bringing people together with some pretty visuals is the answer, but I feel like it could be done without silly little explosions. People look at them in awe like there's a 1 in a million chance it'll actually work. They're designed to go boom and make pretty colours. That's their job.

Plus it frightens animals.
