Has anyone ever done it, and what kind of preparations did you do? I was thinking about it, I scouted out an open mic to see if they were too good for me. I noticed the people that bombed were mostly the ones you couldn't hear talk. Do you have to be funny in the room in real life to have a chance or can you just have the right jokes?

I’ve never done but I’m guessing it’s all about the execution. You can have the perfect joke but if you don’t execute it correctly than it’ll fall flat. Good luck man :D

Never but as a viewer of comedians apparently you need to actually be funny and be able to communicate. It doesn't matter how you look, sound, or act. Just make sure you can do those two things and give it a go.

I’m definitely glad I didn’t try this

Got back into it this year, left my pandemic job to be a sketch writer and video producer in Atlantic City. It’s a lot of fun performing again, still rebuilding my act ( I have about a solid 7-10 minutes now. But that’s why I like doing the sketches.

I’ve seen all types, my biggest strength that I’ve found (yes committing to an act is important) is knowing an audience and being able to adapt to them and never get flustered. I’ve never seen a great comedian not bomb one time or another.

Also being funny in person does not equate to being good on stage. I know super serious people that when they get on stage it’s more of a release and they can kill it. But the only real way to do it is you have to practice practice practice, it is a highly critical business, not just from audiences but also your peers

I had a bit about a procrastinating serial killer I thought was pretty decent, and another internet bit that could have been passable. Steep fall from there though. I figure maybe if I write a book or screenplay with a comedian character I can make him use my serial killer joke.
