Pretty simple, what is your favourite cuisine. I've added some options, but for sure it is not exhaustive.

When you're going out for a meal and you have to decide on the restaurant, what do you always find yourself choosing?

I love many, but Turkish would be my pick. Never had a bad experience.

Japanese, Mexican, and Italian would be next.

I'd have to go for Chinese because the variation of what it has to offer is just unlimited.

It's funny that you say unlimited, because I feel that Chinese food is all the same. The things that are not the same usually taste like shit (chicken's feet, tofu etc.).

Tofu sucks.

In general, I love pizza the most. But that's one specific dish. Overall, probably because I've lived in AZ all my life, I love Mexican food. Italian is probably a close 2nd. I've really started liking Indian food, but not all the dishes, same with Chinese food. English food sucks. American food is aces, but very hard to figure out what is actually American.

To me, American food is hamburgers, Kentucky Fried Chicken, deep-fried Mars bars, French fries, Chicken McNuggets, popcorn, corndogs, doughnuts etc. I'm aware that America actually doesn't have its own cuisine. Everything it has is all adopted from other settlers, but America has certainly promoted the aforementioned foods as its own, so it's good enough for me.

Having thought about it more (and talked it over with David), here is my list:

1. Turkish
2. Japanese
3. Indian
4. Italian
5. English
6. Mexican
7. Scottish
8. American
9. Chinese
10. Thai

I felt more patriotic after speaking with David. ;)

1. American
2. Mexican
3. Italian
4. Under the Sea (I'd say America makes the best Seafood too)
5. Chinese
6. Japanese

Overall I'd say American version of any cuisine. So many places truly suck at their own cuisine compared to the American version of it. All except Italy, they don't play around. But I agree that PIzza is boss in NJ, NYC, and Philly. Occasionally AZ and IL too.

I like American Chinese style food. I'll take mom and pop Chinese restaurants to Panda Express. I don't like the restaurants that have the same cookie cutter menu though. You really got to search for decent American Chinese.

No offense, but what exactly is English cuisine? :-D I mean I love English-style breakfast, but that's about it...

As for the question, it is a diffucult one and keeps changing all the time, but usually it is either Mexican or Indian at the top. Italian only when I cook it myself.

English cuisine isn't popular around the world at all. I suppose it makes more sense to call it "British cuisine". It mainly consists of potato in some form (or pastries), and vegetables are always prominent (we have many, many soups). Then we have many desserts too. Here are some examples:

Full English breakfast, Bangers and mash, Shepherds pie, Cottage pie, Leek and potato soup, Scotch broth, Stew, Fish and chips, Pork pies, Sunday roast, Steak and kidney pie, Cornish pasties, Fisherman's pie, Sausage rolls, Scotch eggs, Ploughman's etc. etc.

Rhubarb pie/crumble, Bread and butter pudding, Apple pie/crumble, Scones, Arctic roll, Bakewell tarts, Carrot cake, Mince pies, Shortcake, Trifle, Treacle tart, and the list goes on...

Algren, you should start a thread about what dish defines their cuisine. That'd be fun

I love me some Shepherds Pie.
