What makes the target edition elusive? I got mine from target but it doesn't seem any different than the others.

Standard - Deluxe - Collectors (Target exclusive)

The Target collectors edition was announced just a couple weeks before launch, which is very unusual. Target (or the publisher) also didn't allow preorders for it. Instead they announced online and pickup sales would begin at 3am EST on launch day. And, unsurprisingly, fans crashed the website and app.

The Target one differs in that it has a ribbon bookmark, a colored map, and five full art pages. All versions have the same story with no bonus chapters.

It seems the Target print run was especially limited (probably due to being last minute) because it has a different ISBN than the other versions and it didn't make the top 25 book sales last week. Copies are going for hundreds on eBay and such now.

The Deluxe edition (middle image) is also a limited print run, but they gave it a 2 million print run so if you pre-ordered or got it first week, you probably managed to get one. If not, check stores (including Walmart and such) soon if you're wanting one.

How did Somewhere Beyond The Sea sell? I member it had a bit of hype last fall (though nowhere near hype of Onyx Storm.)

Also I saw someone buying Onyx at Target the other day and it had some brown on the cover, looked like the thied one you listed. She looked all nervous, like she was doing something naughty, and then she got really embarrased when the self check out machine made the employees check her ID. :funny:
