Jmart wrote: The Bruins are so weird. This was supposed to be a bridge year but they're somehow the best team in hockey, but they can't (or are barely able to) hold third period leads. They'd be running away with the President's Trophy again if they could've held even a third of the games they've lost in the third and in overtime. That'll probably eventually fuck them over in the playoffs if that continues, but unlike last year, they should be able to get out of the first round. (Famous last words) None from the - Capitals, Leafs, Flyers, and Lightning, really scare me. But if they're lucky to get out of the first round (after last year I'm not taking anything for granted) I don't see them getting by the Panthers. The Panthers will just bully them around again and I think they're more talented and better built for a playoff run. If they get best record again it would be remind me when Vancouver lost in game 7 of the finals, the year after they had the best record in the league for second straight year but it kind of seemed more meh and they lost in the first round to first LA Kings team. |

Glad the Oilers drew LA instead of Vegas who they always lose to. Still don't love their chances considering they seem to lose every big game though. |

If the Bruins blow consecutive 3-1 series lead they have to blow everything up. Jim Montgomery getting axed will be easy, but if Jacobs had any balls (he doesn't...more on that in a sec) he'd fire Neely and Sweeney too. I'd also try to sell high on Marchand while you still can and trading Ullmark would be easy. But if they blow it (and that's looking likely) Jacobs will probably have Neely and Sweeney fire Montgomery and that'll be it. He's owned the team for 50 years and only cares about keeping asses in seats. Blowing up the team, even if sorely needed, will not keep asses in seats. The cup win in 2011 feels like a happy accident more than anything at this point. And think about where the Bruins would be without that cup. 2010 - Blow 3-0 series lead. 2012 - Lose in Game 7 of first round in OT 2013 - Blow one goal lead in Game 6 and lose the cup in the last 90 seconds. 2019 - Don't show up in Game 7 of Stanley Cup Final 2023 - Blow 3-1 series lead 2024 - ??? They don't win in 2011 and they go down on a list of all-time choke artists. |
