Post NHL Season Cancelled.....Rusty on suicide watch....
Last minute talks could not salvage the NHL season and it was officially cancelled today. Hopefully there is no rioting in Canada right now.

they just can't come to terms on a salary cap figure as well as some other issues.

i'm not a big fan of it, mostly because i grew up without a hockey team in cleveland so i never grew attached to it. I follow the L.A. Kings somewhat because i used to watch them a lot when they had Gretzky, the season being cancelled really doesn't bother me too much.

The owners wanted a salary cap of $42.5M per team; the players wanted a salary cap of $49M per team.

If this is what they are arguing about, then they deserve to have their season cancelled.

Funny thing is ... the owners won't agree to a cap of more than 35 million for next year ... theya re going to make the players pay for this. The owners called their bluff, and now they are in deep shit.

I always knew that it was gonna happend since day 1 of the lockout  . Luckaly there's an OHL team in my city so I can still go see some live games. The OHL is much more brutal the the NHL so there's more fights :D

well that's good, at least you have another place to get some kind of hockey. i thought you'd be hanging the noose from the rafters as soon as they announced the cancellation today.

ehem, talks commenced today... even after the cancellation... so if they can agree soon, they might re-instate the season

this is the first time I've ever gone without hockey and everyday there actually feels like there's a void inside of me. Sure OHL is okay but it will never replace watching the toronto maple leafs kick some ass.
