Spain dominated the possession and dictated the pace, and Germany simply couldn't do anything about it. I don't see what was fabulous with the goal. It was a dumb defensive blunder by Lahm, he was ahead and just stopped running, even Gomez would have made that goal

Spain deserved the win but I agree that the game was luckluster. As was the whole Euro, except for a few games.

Torres outfought and outran Lahm for the goal; Lahm did the best his body allowed, just as Lahmann did trying to stop it.

Heh, I forgot to watch, mostly because I lost interest in the cup after Turkey and Russia got kicked out.
Isn't Aragones a racist? Why would anyone want to support Spain?

Even though the team I picked at the beginning won ( ), I wasn't crazy about this tournament. Then again, not a big soccer fan overall.

Re: Official Euro 2008 Thread!!!!!! Predict!!!
Oh come don't be a sore loser, Spain was dominating Germany and were playing a very Brazilian form of soccer.
Both sides had lapses but the midfield play by Spain was dominating.
The Grey Hair German was really good but I question the substitutions by Germany. They were a knee-jerk solution and proved fatal in the end.
Also did you know the Semi-Final between Spain and Russia was watched by over 85% of Spaniards. The finals is likely 90%...
Really our Hockey Ratings and Football ratings don't even come close to that. Really just shows us how dominant soccer is.
Lets talks about 2010 WC.
Brazil has a much younger team, but their Neighbors, Argentina are great and could easily win.
Italy is done, as their offense has died out.
Germany could do well again if they played more of the soccer they played against Portugal.
Portugal will be a favourite as Rolando will be older and experienced.
Spain is a huge huge threat this time...
However the WC is always between the Big European Teams (Germany,Italy, France) and Brazil usually...

I also wished the respect opponents have for each other would migrate to the US.
Watching a team for 30 mins celebrating is very humble.
Hugging and talking after wards??
unheard of in North American Sports.
A lot of times the teams don't even handshake.

Why would you want to hug them? I'd kick them in the balls.

Well the Europeans have been fighting wars for millenia, and we don't really have much war experience. I'd like to see Spain and Germany hugging while throwing grenades at each other. Plus, they're sissies. Everybody knows that

Re: Official Euro 2008 Thread!!!!!! Predict!!!
really the problem with Hockey is the fighting, it really turns off a lot of people.
I like the huge hits and such but the fighting makes the game look like the WWF.
Is there a major proper sports league that condones fighting in game???

Embarassing.
Germany had what, 4 shots during 90 minutes? Bleh. Our defense was the worst so far and the offense sadly didn't amaze either. Only Lehman did a great job.
And it's not even that Spain was amazing. They were 10 times better than us, yet not at the top of their game. The whole match was rather unexciting.

The Dutch games in the group states were fun to watch.
EPL games are often amazingly fast.

I find English Soccer to be boring and the games with Madrid and Barcelona are fun to watch but the defense is horrendous.

Re: Official Euro 2008 Thread!!!!!! Predict!!!
Unfortunately, I hate all those obnovxious Spanish teams, so not much fun to watch. Actually, come to think of it, I'm not sure I like anything or anyone. Maybe this is the time to re-evaluate my life and stuff
