It'll be a long ass time before anybody new enters that list. The closest with the years available in their career needed to get that high is currently on 4 grand slams, lol, and it's Naomi Osaka, so that ain't happening. And in the men's game it's even lower, just one grand slam for Medvedev and Alcaraz. That shows the true strength of FedalDjo trio.

Post Re: The Tennis Thread
The big 3 won 20 of 22 majors from 2017 Australian to 2022 Wimbledon, and one of the exceptions (Thiem) was probably due to Djokovic DQ at US Open. This really took it to another level considering even by 2017 they were already the three best players of all time with not much left to prove outside of beating each other, and Nadal had weak 2015 and 2016, Djokovic had weak late 2016 to early 2018, both over 30 by the time they turned it around, and Federer was over 35. It could have easily just been Nadal and Djokovic winning 2 or 3 more each from that point on and Federer 0 leading to a somewhat human looking total like Federer - 17, Nadal - 16, Djokovic - 15. Serena also did great in her 30s winning 10 more. Federer's 4 majors in his 30s seems underwhelming compared to his 20s, but compared to like everyone else ever it's pretty good, it's just Nadal and Djokovic (8/9 and counting) are machines.

Insane to think how dominant the Big 3 have been since 2004 really. We've just had the random non Big 3 winner every now and then, threatening to break out but never really doing so.

Novak is through to the AO final after another dominant display. So good to be watching greatness. We’ve been spoiled. Hopefully we get a good final.

It's a shame that both of these men are in the final. It's a 'whoever wins, we lose' situation for me. But I suppose I would prefer Tsitsipas because it would make the better story rather than yet another Djokovic win.

Djokovic - immense open and glad he dominated after last year's debacle.

Tsitsipas is such a pretender. He so desperately wants to a slam winner but I don't think he ever will be.

I guess Djokovic will now go on to get the most slams. I think Nadal's time is over, even at the French.

At best Nadal gets one more French (and then should retire) - though don't think he will. Alcaraz is a chance. So to Djoka (who did beat Nadal twice there).

Djoka can get another 4-5 slams before retiring.

Someone needs to step up and challenge before he retires though. Maybe Alcaraz. Not sold on Tsisipas either.

Medvedev was looking like a possible at one point, but after winning the US it seems he's content with that. Zverev is recovering from injury but if he wasn't he would be in with a chance. Alcaraz is surely going to win more. Tsitsipas, meh. So yeah ... can't see beyond more Djokovic wins to be honest. Nadal isn't winning another slam, but I hope I am wrong.

I wouldn't give up on major record quite yet if I was Nadal. Retire after French Open 2024 not 2023. If he wins the next two French Opens you never know what could happen such if Alcarez starts taking Djokovic's hardcourt/grass majors.

I don't think he's given up, he's just not physically able to win them anymore. I know that sounds crazy saying that while he's the current French champ, but his form since then has gone way down.

Nadal isn't even playing at Roland Garros this year, so it's definitely over for him now. He'll be another year older in 2024, and he's not even really playing much anymore. He's now in his Federer stage from a couple years ago when everyone was saying "shouldn't this guy be retired already?" because he was pulling out of everything due to injury. Those final few years of one's career where the player just cannot come to terms with their downfall - that's Nadal right now.

And Djokovic will be there in 2-3 years. Right now he's still the best shot at each slam, but he can also be beaten by the next crop. No longer dominant but still the bookies favourite.

I'd love it if Ruud could win, but I think we're still in the Djokovic era. Though before he got cramp Alcarez was looking good to maybe knock him out.

It was fun to see Murray put on a pretty good showing against Tsitsipas, the latter seems talented enough to be on the next level as a player as major winner and threatening #1 ranking.

Djokovic washed Wawrinka most of the match but at least he made him work for it at the end.

I don't see Tsitsipas as a major winner at all. I think he'll always be in that second group of maybes, kind of like how Andy Roddick was for years. He only won a slam because of luck that Agassi was fading out and Federer hadn't started his dominance yet. But with Alcarez and Djokovic being the dominant forces right now, I see now way for Tsitsipas to grab a slam. Medvedev is the next in line for slams if Alcarez and Djokovic are injured or absent or whatever. I even see Rune and Ruud ahead of the Greek, tbh. He'll always be the nearly man, imo.

Anyway, the Wimbledon final is shaping up nicely to be Alcarez vs Djokovic. As for the women's, probably Sabalenka vs Svitolina. But I never rule out Jabeur, and Rybakina won it last year so she's also in the mix.

I had a feeling this was headed towards being Jabeur time to win major and her just beating Rybakina definitely comes closer to that. A Svitolina/Sablenka final would probably be full of errors with crazy amounts of national pressure on them. I'll be cheering for Svitolina though as she's cute.

I thought Alcarez was going to be upset by someone before playing Djokovic, until I saw him get to all of Berretini's serves, now I'm not sure. Probably still Djokovic.

Yeah, I think Djokovic still edges that match-up. And agreed on a Sabalenka-Svitolina final. The pressure might be too much for the Ukrainian who is not as good as Sabalenka. But we'll see; Sabalenka has a much tougher semi-final to get through first.

Hopefully Djokovic has a few years left in him to produce epic finals rivarly, cause Alcarez would vaporize the rest of these guys going forward.
