Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Agreed. I am so annoyed that the media is standing up for Bautista. Also I annoyed that they are making this out to be about that stupid bat flip. This is abouttheBlue Jays being bullied for the second straight year and about them being the whiniest to boot.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Red Sox are starting to come alive while Baltimore is slipping away. But as long as it is not Toronto.
The Indians should have this one in the bag, but never count out the Rally prone Royals, who by the way are the hottest team in baseball right now. Long live the Rally Mantis!
The Rangers made easily the biggest splash at the Trade Deadline and are looking like the AL favorites for the World Series.
The Mets are falling a part. Their scary rotation is not what it was last year with under performances and injuries. With Stanton out for the year, the Nationals have this one practically locked.
The Cubs, meanwhile, are the closest lock for the post season. They have better competition in their division than the Nats do, but the Cubs are just that good. The Pirates or Cardinals certainly can get a wild card though.
Come on Giants! You have the best rotation in baseball and are losing to the always overrated and this year injured Dodgers! It's an even year, get your act together.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Two painful losses for the Royals against the Yankees keeps them at arms length in the AL Wild Card race

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Another day in which the Blue Jays lose, so do the Red Sox...to a last place team...again. I know its hard to ask any team to sweep two teams on the road, but the A's and Padres suck.
I probably can't complain too much if they wind up going 4-2 on the west coast, but come on!

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
I think this year's World Series will be between the Rangers and Cubs in a matter of who will blow it first.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
So the league is on pace for its 2nd most homers in a season and highest homer per at bat rate ever? How is that possible unless juicing is back?

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Moneyball mentality. Strikeouts are at higher rates than they have been in the past. It's funny because it is allowing small ball teams to win more often such as the Giants and Royals who, unshockingly, have won the last couple of World Series titles.

Indians clinch the playoffs! The injuries will make it hard to advance past red hot Boston, but with Kluber and a great bullpen it is always possible.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Lack of a solid catcher and an injured starting rotation will not doubt hurt the Indians. Rangers and Red Sox appear poised to win the American League this year.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
The playoffs will be the most fun in years, with the Indians and Cubs with long droughts. A Red Sox and Cubs World Series should be a ratings record if they both get in, which I think they have a strong possibility.

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Strength for each divisional winner:
Red Sox - Offense both power and contact
Indians - Defense, speed, and bullpen (this year's Royals)
Rangers - Best remaining rotation in AL and late inning resolve
Nationals - Pitching and offense
Cubs - Starting rotation and best all around offense (small ball and power)
Dodgers - Pitching
Weaknesses
Red Sox - Pitching
Indians - Catcher and injuries
Rangers - Defense
Nationals - Injuries and the eventually poor defense from Murphy if he returns
Cubs - Bullpen (even with Chapman who is overrated)
Dodgers - offense

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
Great game, the Orioles not using Britton is crazy especially for an obvious boom/bust candidate like Ubaldo. Even after the first mistake of not putting him in, with Britton having the all time ground ball pitch who better in history to get a double play with runners on 1st and 3rd?

Re: 2016 Major League Baseball Discussion
A lot of good close games thus far, but nothing magical yet like the Royals the last two years, I.e. No big rallies
