Ha!!! We finally got rid of Jeff Mathis. Now the Blue Jays are stuck with him. Sorry Shack.

They are trying to buy a WS again like they did in 1997. I don't think it will work.

They didn't really buy a WS in 1997. They made a few big pickups but its not like they drastically overpaid players to get a ring. Guys like Luis Castillio and Edgar Renteria were home-grown talent.

I'm not sure why the Marlins aren't going for Fielder. He's better long-term than Pujols IMO. Plus, I think he is actually more marketable to the fans. He brings a sense of excitement and energy that Pujols doesn't.

They overpaid for Hernandez, Alou, Bonilla, and Sheffield. They lost most of those players the next season.

I think they are dumb too. They be better off building up the team through their farm system. Of course, we don't know if Pujous will take the deal. The Cubs will make him an offer, and the Cardinals could match the offer.

Miami, like its basketball counterpart, thinks it can buy fans and championships. They're wrong though. Team likes the Yankees can spend so much because their stadiums will fill up every night no matter what.

On the other hand, the Marlins are undefeated in the playoffs thus far. And in baseball, once you make the postseason all regular season games mean jack shit.

Burhele to Marlins. Pujols probably off the table, though Fielder is now back in it.

Cubs are in the Fielder sweepstakes, though, and I think he will end up there.

OMG!!! We got both Pujols and Wilson. We may have the best staff in the AL now. Look out Texas, we are out to get you.

With Pujols, that means Abreu and Callaspo are getting traded. Yes, it is a high contract, but this will definetely increase season ticket sales, and his jersey will sell out in one day.

I'm happy Ortiz is staying. I'm interested to see how our lineup changes. We need a catcher (The slingshot shit won't fly again) and right fielder (Thank god JD Drew is gone) but I wouldn't mind if we grabbed a new shortstop as well.

Though Salty and Reddick look like they will fill in. I still wouldn't mind if we spend the extra money on a new closer.

Look out Texas? If you guys don't win the pennant, you've failed.

Rangers got nothing to worry about

Wilson to me is a bad signing. He seems like another Lackey, an average pitcher who had a good year getting big money. I was thankful the Red Sox didn't sign him. We shall see about the Angels. I think they can win the division but who knows about beyond doing that.

@ Magnus.

I agree that there are no guarantees in the Angels going all the way. At least we have the right tools to win a ring, but now the question is, how we use those tools.

I know this pretty much make us the Yankees of the West Coast now, but hey, after missing out on 2 consecutive playoffs, we had to be drastic. At least one advantage with Pujols signing here is that is a DH spot, so late in his career, he will be our primary DH. There is an opt out clause in there, so we don't have to keep him forever.

As for the CJ signing, the Angels got a hometown discount for him, cause the Rangers and Marlins offered him more than what the Angels are paying him. He just wanted to be closer to home.

I agree that the Rivalry between us and the Rangers will now hit an all time high, with us stealing your Ace, and having a player who (partially) ruined your World Series run.

Yes, the payroll may be too high, but at least with increased sales and merchandising sales, it will be a win win for us too (and for the Rangers, as I guarantee that every Rangers-Angels games will sell out).

Just my thought.

Should've happened years ago. We've been robbed of many Yankees/Sox series.

I love the Angels team now. This is baseball though, the best team never wins.

Well granted in two of those seasons they were the best two teams in the AL (2003-2004).

Incredibly risky move.

Better hope isn't DiceK, although he was pretty good his first two years. And he did help Boston win a WS.
