Oh no, I meant in terms of total seats available. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Although those stats are quite good to hear for sure.

I've been seeing a lot of fuss over the movie's results and its contributions to the corona-damaged movie industry on japanese media, so I think it's certainly possible that it has generated a lot of curiosity which may translate into legs.

Got you.

It had 1,278,438 available seats at the usual locations (70% of market) last Saturday.
It has 1,210,084 available seats at the usual locations (70% of market) this Saturday.

Very close, although 6 theaters of its 267 that the usual locations is counting weren't processed correctly and are missing. So it's likely between 1,225,000-1,250,000 or so depending on the size of the 6 theaters missing. Nearly identical versus last Saturday, and Sunday is likely to be the same (Sunday counts will be out later today).

So, all the cards are looking good for the weekend as of now then. Managing that good of a drop with such a ridicolous opening weekend would be crazy, that's for sure.

A few hours from showings beginning today and Aeon Cinema's servers are... NOT down. It's a miracle, but let's see if it can last... And don't worry, this isn't a sign of lack of business or anything. After checking a few places (no checking more, don't want the servers TO crash after all), they're 50% full or better.

Saturday's pre-sales from ~50% of the market will be released soon, followed by Sunday's seating/showtime numbers.

(Went back to add ANY Saturday presale figure above 75,000, so some OTHER second Saturday's could make the list...)

Saturday pre-sales are only down 18%, 18% versus last Saturday. 18%. This demon might really do 2 million admissions in its second weekend.

I've been waiting to say it, wanting to get more numbers, trying to find some sign of weakness, but... Spirited Away is in danger, the most danger it's ever been in. Demon Slayer will be about a third of the way to its total after this weekend concludes with a second weekend maybe 2.5x higher than Spirited's opening weekend.

The total seats this weekend Sat + Sun only drops a little bit comparing to last weekend, right?
If both Sat and Sun only drop 18% like the projection, omg

Last Saturday Seating: 1,278,438
This Saturday Seating: 1,210,084

Last Sunday Seating: 1,270,221
This Sunday Seating: 1,192,990

But note that this Saturday is missing 6 locations in the total, so it's likely closer to 1,250,000. And Sunday is missing 3 locations, so it's over 1,200,000. Needless to say, but both are records again.

At this rate the only records it might struggle to take are Frozen's weekends from eighth weekend-on, and even those might be in jeopardy.

Mother of God. If it drops below 20% this weekend than there is really no ceiling for this thing. 10B was an Uber blockbuster status and it will most likely achieve that in 10 days. 10 days :noway:

Also, before this morning kicks off at the usual locations, try to wait awhile before analyzing the numbers. Most of the mornings have been off due to processing errors from Aeon Cinema's servers crashing. I'll keep an eye on them throughout the morning, but chances are they won't be accurate until around noon. I'd really be shocked if it goes 100% smoothly.

It also got an hour head start last week at 7am at the busiest locations, an hour before theaters typically have their first showing. Some theaters began at 7am this Saturday too, but not as many.

Just a head's up.

I'm so hyped for this new trailer! I'm thinking they might reveal characters not shown in the previous trailers since the movie is out already for a week... or just a trailer that coming out like a music vid for the OST Homura.

Yes, Aeon Cinemas was holding up so well this morning, too. But their servers have crashed again.

Until they upgrade their servers, they'll probably keep crashing every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the next few weeks.

That said, the programmers are more active on the weekends, so lost ticket sales due to this are often corrected and don't need estimated later on. Aeon crashed a lot last weekend, and they only had to estimate some morning showtimes from last Friday morning.

Either the programmer(s) are fixing the numbers, or even their server crashed. They are getting hammered by all the 5ch members (5ch board is averaging a new post every five seconds), and possibly some media sources now that its performance has become a news and media story. Interest is insanely high now among the public.

I didn't really see anything unusual when the updates were occurring, there was an abnormally big one that seemed to correct the missing Aeon sales from earlier, but shortly after that it stopped updating. So my money's on a server crash. Just gotta wait and see what happened later. I wouldn't recommend keeping an eye on it frequently and just check back every now and then.

And right when I post that, it's back up. All looks normal.

I still wouldn't suggest refreshing the website too often though, and just check every half-hour or hour or something.

Heading into the afternoon showings, the film is down just 26% versus last Saturday after the morning showings. Not only is this remarkable (we need create a new adjective just for this movie), and is easily on track to claiming the second biggest Saturday ever, after its own first Saturday, but it's how it's managed that 26% number.

Because last Saturday morning was actually boosted a fair bit by more showings beginning at 7am versus this Saturday, in addition to the 8:30am stage greeting broadcast showing across all its theaters that were sold out. So we can definitely expect it to improve upon that already remarkable 26% figure as the day progresses from here. A sub-20% decline is looking good. Not guaranteed, still a lot of the day to go, but it's likely to occur.

(And the fact that we're actually comparing today versus last Saturday, biggest day of all-time by over a 2:1 margin, is lunacy.)

Corpse, it is actually just 13 % down compared to last Saturday. Mimorin is showing slightly inflated numbers. Just check your last Saturday 12 pm update.

Yeah, the actual drop is 13%, I went and compared it to your saturday updates just in case. Kind of ridicolous.
