Regardless of it not being cancelled I can see a lot less on-site participation/viewership this time around.

Bad news from Germany...

More and more cases in different states of Germany pop up and worst part is that one of the victims went to the movies on Saturday (with 138 tickets sold for his BB3 show) - this is hardly the news the movie theaters want to be spread...

Here in the US the awareness and preparedness among people are quite low tbh. The government should emphasize the high risk of community transmission and advise people to take precautions and be prepared for it. More testing of people at hospitals and airports and other ports of entry for the virus and reporting the numbers are important too imo.

Trump will be speaking about it tonight. Whether you care for the guy or not, I hope he emphasizes the need for being prepared because I think most of the US views it as an "over there" problem.

Better late than never. I am a little concerned about the public health system. Due to high medical cost and lack of public insurance, many people here have a habit of relying on over-the-counter drugs and not seeking medical help. Avoiding professional help could delay detection and treatment of new cases.

Tweets like those are the reason this virus is dangerous. People will be relaxed, at the very least make people alert of the threat that's spreading all over the world. No one wants to hear that it's in control for now in US. Most people are already following the media about that.

What luck does the studios have. The schedule this year was shitty but now they will have the virus to blame for the dismal BO (at the very least in OS markets).

It's not a good idea to instill unnecessary panic, but at the same time, this is a very real threat. Delegating the taskforce to Pence was a good idea. Being vague about the "very rapidly" vaccine is not.

You can alert people without causing panic, I am sure these skills (or being able to hire people) comes as part of your resume to lead a country.

Trump names Pence and then the first community transmission is confirmed in the US. I guess Pence’s prayers didn’t work.

18 more cases today in Germany and still 3 hours to go...

More than 1,400 people quarantined at home...

All events with more than 1,000 people attending cancelled in Switzerland...

More and more trade fairs being cancelled in Germany as well...

I guess it's only a matter of time until theaters will feel the pain...

After a few quiet days the numbers are steadily increasing in Singapore now. Luckily the number of people discharged stays above the number of new detections.

Yeah, we still go to the movies, lol. But this is gonna get ugly. Fast. A health crisis is the last thing we need right now :(.

Already three cases in the US where the person has no idea how they caught it, which means it's spreading. And we know this thing spreads FAST.

Like I've been saying, box office is going to be the least of our concerns during the next year. But yes, box office is fucked.

Italy went from 889/21 yesterday to 1,128/29 today... (known infections/deaths)

Friday's movie theaters admissions dropped 78 % compared to last week...

Could U.S. theaters realistically screen every patron before entry or would they just have to close altogether?
