That is higher than Shazam and unlike that movie there is no Endgame to take away the buzz. So with good reception it can have 60/170m run. I dont know about OS potential. this is hard movie to predict.

If people were more on board than I could've seen an opening in the 80s but it seems like people aren't that hyped for it. Joker had massive buzz. I think 60/160 sounds about right. If everything goes right and this had great reviews/audience reaction then higher but as of now I'm not seeing anything that high unfortunately.

This definitely does not have the save wide appeal of Joker. That’s why anything above $150m is not a given.

I liked the narration in the trailer. This is how to make medium budgeted movie profitable: wicked fun and action. Charlie's Angels could learn something from Harley Quinn.
This could pull a John Wick 3.

The studio asked Chad Stahelski (John Wick) to come in and redo the action scenes (3-4 weeks of reshoots). Isn’t that sexist? :-P

Isn't thi basically a sequel to Suicide Squad? That did over 300m, and Robbie's Harley Quinn was well received. We're expecting a 50% dropoff even with better potential reception?

Isn’t that sexist? :-P Not really given the track record of indie darlings suddenly given huge budgets. Reshoots with the John Wick stunt team could've really punched up some of the bad franchise starters fumbled by the likes of Josh Trank, Marc Webb, and Colin Trevorrow. Shit Gareth Edwards is one of the more visually accomplished of this new trend and Rogue One still had heavy reshoots that almost undoubtedly made it better. Just to say that I'm a big proponent of having accomplished action directors handle second unit shooting when the director has never made a big budget movie before.

Suicide Squad had a bigger cast and many set pieces. This looks like a mid-budget film like John Wick 3.

This can be called a spin-off of Suicide Squad with a much popular actor (now). This is definitely not a sequel to Suicide Squad.

I'm expecting a high 30s OW low 90s finish, about $250-$300M WW.

I feel there is not enough buzz for this. Are there any pre-sales or other indicators like YouTube views or something else showing breakout potential for this?

Early tracking is at 52m. I feel thst would just be okay but I’m also assuming it’ll be frontloaded and 52m would lead to like 135m at most . Quote: he film is really hot right now with the under 25 demo, with young males Let's go gays. A 50m opening would be ok. Hope hype increases and reviews are solid.

They're also reporting the film cost $97m. Good budget. 350m WW should be the absolute lowest.

Re: Birds of Prey (&theFantabulousEmancipationofOneHarleyQui
This movie feels like such a NON EVENT IMO. The trailers haven't been bad, but they just haven't been all that great either. I don't know maybe its just me, but it felt like even Shazam had more buzz for it at this point, but we all know how that one turned out. If the budget is really under $100M than as long as it hits $350-$450M WW than it should make a good amount of profit for Warner Bros, but its hard seeing a big breakout right now.

I think this might make around 7 times what the 2019 Charlies Angels movie made. $125m. Which would be fine, because I agree with Dil in that this feels like a blah release right now.

Re: Birds of Prey (&theFantabulousEmancipationofOneHarleyQui
I think it still has a chance at 65-70m which is good if the film is well received because the second weekend should then see a strong hold.
But I agree the marketing thus far hasn’t captured the attention of the general audiences and I do feel it’s appeal is limited. Perhaps a killer SB spot could get it to the next level but hopes are dimming.

Early reviews says its tarantino like in violence and so its a hard R movie. That could limit its BO potential.

Mmmmm I think once we knew it was Rated R it seemed like 200m+ probably won't happen but I think there will be an audience for this just like Deadpool and Logan did well being really violent. We'll see. Right now I'm thinking 65-70m opening, hoping for more.

Yeah I haven't noticed any not good reactions. A few "pacing issues" from a few people, but really not bad. And they all praise the action scenes, which there are a lot of apparently.

Wow reactions have me really looking forward to this. I thought it looked kind of bad from the trailers. I'm glad it's supposed to be good.

If momentum builds next week and RT score is good 75m+ could happen.
