Do you typically not care when a cop threatens a government employee with death? It clearly wasn’t serious. Perhaps we should, you know, hold cops to a higher standard since they kind of have the ability to actually carry out those kinds of things. Maybe we should insist that even Presidents and Supreme Court justices should maybe be better ethically and morally than the average guy on the street.

Re: The Trump Era: The Awkward Mix of Libertarianism and Fas
Today is the beginning of days (weeks? months? years?) of conspiracy theorists having a fit over the suicide of Jeffrey Epstein. Not to mention that the left will continue to link him with Trump and the right will continue to link him with Clinton, meanwhile everyone else will just be glad one less vile human being is in this world and that all three men are probably guilty as fuck.

Re: The Trump Era: The Awkward Mix of Libertarianism and Fas
Pretty obvious a murder. It doesn't have to be the Clintons but someone powerful needed Epstein dead and tried two weeks ago. And how exactly does one of the most high profile inmates in America on suicide watch pull this off again if it's not an inside job? Having cameras on him 24/7 isn't hard

Re: The Trump Era: The Awkward Mix of Libertarianism and Fas
The grossest aspect of this is anyone on either side using this whole story to fuel their anti-Trump or anti-Clinton agenda. This should be one of those issues that is above political party. Whoever Epstein was involved with and whoever prospered from heinous illegal activities needs to be held accountable.
Which obviously won't happen now. Unfortunately.

Epstein was found dead in solitary confinement. He reportedly hanged himself. There should be cctv footage that could show what happened.

Re: The Trump Era: The Awkward Mix of Libertarianism and Fas
Epstein was arrested in July and held without bail on charges that he was involved in sex trafficking of underage girls to his New York and Florida mansions between 2002 and 2005. The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York filed the charges. Epstein faced similar charges in 2008. A plea deal was struck with Alex Acosta, then US attorney in Florida, allowing non-prosecution of the sex-trafficking charges and sealing the details of the indictment. Epstein instead pleaded guilty to two charges of soliciting prostitution, including with a minor. He served 13 months in jail - with much of that time spent on work release at his Palm Beach office. Acosta resigned as US Secretary of Labor a month ago amid criticism of his lenient deal with Epstein. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49306032Quote: History of the allegations
2002: The earliest allegations of abuse covered by the recent case take place.
October 2002: Donald Trump tells New York magazine he has known Epstein for 15 years, and that he is a "terrific guy.... it is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side".
2005: One of Epstein's alleged victims, aged 14, reports him to the police in Palm Beach - sparking the first investigation.
May 2006: Epstein is charged with unlawful sex acts with a minor. Later in the year, the case is referred to the FBI.
2007: A plea deal is struck with Alex Acosta, the US attorney in Florida. Instead of facing federal sex-trafficking charges, he pleads guilty to two charges of soliciting prostitution, including with a minor.
June 2008: Epstein is sentenced to 13 months in prison - a private wing of a county jail. He is also allowed to leave for work - up to 12 hours a day, six days a week. He does, however, have to register as a sex offender.
April 2017: Alex Acosta is appointed labor secretary by now-President Donald Trump.
November 2018: The Miami Herald publishes its explosive investigation into Epstein, the plea deal, and the dozens of women alleging abuse.
July 2019: Epstein is arrested on new sex-trafficking charges, which he denied. Alex Acosta resigns.

Imagine thinking you're unbiased, but then linking an Epstein/Clinton post... but not an Epstein/Trump one.
SO unbiased!
(it's clearly obvious that both Bill/Donald are sexual predators. you can safely assume at LEAST one of them went through Epstein for girls)

LOL @ all the idiot newbies to congress who were hating on Pelosi for not starting impeachment things earlier this year. So dumb.
She knew he would fuck up again and needed to time it so that it would be an issue in 2020 - where even if impeachment fails, it hurts his reelection chances; where it becomes an issue that every R up for re-election will have ti publicly pick a side on - and that won't be fun in swing areas.
Talk about waiting for the opportune moment.

I still think there's a world where this story hurts Biden more than the Teflon Don.

I hope it hurts both of them. And the Dem party will be much better for it.

Re: The Trump Era: The Awkward Mix of Libertarianism and Fas
It won't hurt Trump.
It will end Biden.
The only folks the democrats are pleasing with impeachment are radicals who've been obsessing day 1 because they are stuck in 2016. Fake independents don't want it and real republicans don't care/believe it. Finally, it will be doa in the Senate. So please please please...Impeach Trump.

You're right. An Impeachment Inquiry will have no effect on Trump. None. I'm sure his <40% approval rating will skyrocket!

I am constantly amazed at how Trump people will support him no matter what, claim nothing will hurt him as his poll numbers (which have never once even reached 50%) continue to fall, and vow that this is all no big deal while still screaming about imagined crimes Democrats have committed.

How come did Rudy Giuliani, a non-US official and Trump's coffee boy, end up acting as the middleman between the US and Ukraine presidents and doing the "investigative" work for the DoJ and the Ukraine?

Yes, the President can ask Zelensky to do that.

Re: The Trump Era: The Awkward Mix of Libertarianism and Fas
According to demoncrats any phone call with another president is impeachable. Fake whistleblower hearsay nonsense is impeachable. Fake Russian collusion is impeachable. If that's the case...just DO IT. Call up Nancy and tell her to hold the damn vote. Of course, we know how this all ends anyway. There is 0.00% chance the Senate would convict Trump over trumped up nonsense but you guys impeach him and keep everything besides budget bills frozen in Congress. That's a great strategy.

Yes, how dare we do the right thing. We should make decisions solely on political reasons, and not on legal ones. We should not do what is best for the country, and only do what is best for the party.
Oh wait. That's been Republican strategy for many years. My bad.
