I think Awkwafina is for SURE getting a nom.

I think Leo/Joaquin are both getting in. I'm hoping Taron gets in. It would be WILD if Pattinson or Dafoe got in for Lighthouse.

I have DiCaprio winning because like Emma Stone in La La Land I think his character will take on an extra meaning when actors who have faced similar insecurities and struggles are voting for it.

If Pitt goes supporting he likely wins. He has enough friends and producer connection in the business that once it becomes clear this is his shot, they won't let it go to waste.

I don't see Ford vs Ferrari doing much. The trailer was full of underdog/true story cliches. It looks like a box office play not an Oscar one to me

Leo and Pitt were both leads but we know some category fraud shenanigans will happen.

I really like Lupita’s chances. The last black actress to win the award was Halle Berry in 2001 and she has a very showy role that involves playing two very different characters. It will be a well-earned feel-good Woke moment, and they need as many of those as possible after Green Book.

Yeah, Pitt will probably go in supporting like Waltz and if it's a weak year may win.

I see Leo and Brad going Lead/Supporting respectively and both winning. This film will resonate enormously with the Academy.

Now it seems like it might be Joaquin Phoenix to me. It just seems like it's going to be a very big, surface friendly performance, and everyone knows he's the most due guy

It looks like Hanks is actually supporting in the Mr Rogers movie but they are hiding it in the marketing

This may all be locked in now for Phoenix. Pitt for supporting likely but not certain.

Even with other "better" performances, the Academy is so desperate to stop viewer decreases they will without a doubt quickly assemble around Joaquin, which looks like will be the performance seen by most mainstream audiences come Oscar night.

JLo could have a very good chance for a nomination.

Marriage Story is in play for wins for Actor (Driver), Actress (ScarJo) and Supporting Actress (Dern), but I think it will be a film that critics embrace more than AMPAs, as Baumbach is an uncompromising cerebral director and the film most likely goes to a heavy place. Probably enough to cross off some due checkboxes in Baumbach getting nominated for director, ScarJo getting nominated and Dern winning her supporting actress Oscar that she was always destined to get

Looks like Renee is a lock to get nominated for Judy and is possible winner

I could see Renee in Actress if the film is good but I also want Lupita in there. Someone campaign her up.
I also see Tom Hanks getting a nod after many years of ignoring him for whatever reason.

90% sure Renee is winning now

Mega praise for her performance and the movie has good reviews at 85% RT
Biopic of famous actress/baity role is winning oscars 101, also helps she's using her own singing voice
Comeback narrative
ScarJo can't stop talking

I know it's a foreign film but I think one of the actresses for Portrait of a Lady on Fire has a good chance of getting in.

Brad is going to get category fraud'd into Supporting and he will likely win there.

I could actually see Leo winning again for Hollywood. None of the other contenders seem overdue except for Dafoe, but the Academy ignored Robert Eggers' last film (The Witch) and The Lighthouse looks kind of niche and weird (and awesome, but the Academy has their taste). Some people are saying Joaquin but I have a really hard time seeing them give the Oscar to another Joker performance. Leo's role/performance are going to resonate enormously with people in the industry, particularly actors who make up the largest voting bloc.

ScarJo has never been nominated before, I don't see them giving one to her now.
