Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
Wild club I know but, Coming off the success of Black Panther MBJ is set to blow up going forward. The first Creed opened better than expected and ended with almost a 4x multiplier. I could see this one open to 55m or 60m and end with around 260m. Who's in?

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
Yes, I'm in. Why not! Especially if they market it effectively as a sequel to both Creed AND Rocky IV. They'll get the new pro-black crowd and the 80s loving white crowd. Even if the club fails (high probability), it should make way more than Creed, enough to become the highest-grossing boxing movie of all-time (in fact, that instead should have been your club).

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
I could see it touching $200 mil. But $256 seems like too much to ask for.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
No doubt it will become the highest grossing boxing pic (Unajusted), I thought that would be to easy. Amazing that Blindside has double the next closest sports themed movie.

I’m all for a Creed 2 breakout, but why bring The Blind Side into this? I think we’d all like to forget about that one.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
Not really realistic in any way. Too gritty and not a feel good movie for women or families. The trailer does a poor job of generating excitement with a quarter second link to Rocky IV.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
Hard to decide but I think the following built from Rocky 4 (the highest grossing Rocky movie) could factor into the equation. Michael B Jordan's profile has risen quite a lot over the years

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
No matter how much Michael B. Jordan has grown in popularity I don't think it's nearly enough to push this movie to $200M let alone $260M. That would mean a large portion of the audience that turned out for Black Panther would have to show up for this and I just don't see that.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
Never forget that Rocky III was the biggest opening of all time in its month. and in 1985 Stallone had the biggest R rated opening and Rocky 4 was in the top 5 openings of all time.
But No, I can see a 45/140 kind of run. Which would also be amazing.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
The MGM trailer now has 11m views. That took 3 days. What do the 'YouTube View Theorists' make of that?
Even trailer reaction videos are getting 100k views. I don't get that at all why anyone would want to watch someone else's reaction to a trailer.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
Trying to predict anything based on Youtube views is a total lost cause. There are too many variables. 1. you don't know how much it's being seeked out specifically 2. there's number of likes and like/dislike ratio 3. yt audience vs. other trailer views 4. number of yt channels where the trailer may be shown and the variance in views among them 5. yt audience and/or type of film overlap with piracy audience
For starters. I once tried tracking it for a period of time but eventually realized it was a waste of time.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
Youtube views give us a ballpark idea. I think that is true.
The last 3 trailers to hold the total views record also broke the opening weekend record (jw in 2015, tfa in 2015, avengers in 2018).
Nobody had an any inkling that films like IT, Suicide Squad, Black Panther, Incredible 2 (84m teaser views), Thor Ragnarok, man of Steel (3 day adjusts to $142m) would do as well as they did until their insane trailer views.

YouTube views can help us figure out when a film will explode. CAN. But they don't always and are not useful in most cases.

There is little difference between a trailer reaction, than what we post here. It's just in video form. We're literally doing it right now. Minus the video.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
At the moment, it will be lucky to reach $100m. I think they are doing a bad job of making this film an event. I know there's still a month to go (they'll have to ramp it up a lot) but at the moment it's all about Adonis and very little about connecting this new film to Rocky IV. Showing lots of clips of Adonis' girlfriend and baby and his training won't help sell this film. It has to be sold as Russia vs. US, the sequel to Rocky IV, the rematch between Sly and Dolph, etc. and so far I've seen very, very little of that. Looks like it might be another disappointment. Hopefully when November comes they will pick it up because so far it's been crap.
It's also crazy that its Facebook page only has 1m likes. It's had that since the first film! It's not adding new people. Worrying.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
Yeah they definitely need to play up the USA v RUSSIA, Rocky IV link. I still think the Rocky IV is the most memorable of the Rocky films so they should definitely play that angle up. And soon.

Re: Creed II> The Blindside Domestic Club
I'm also not sure about this Florian Munteanu guy. He is big, I'll give him that. But he also looks a bit dumb and nothing like what I expect Drago's son to look like. He just looks like a big dumb idiot, and not Russian. I really think they should have played up the Russian side. Even Drago doesn't look Russian! Dolph better have put on the voice again. If not, this will crumble. His son is from Romania so hopefully he also has an accent. At the moment it is looking very much like an Expendables movie in terms of not having a credible villain.
