Let them. Only the stupid people would. Then we could just lock all the doors and they'll be stuck outside and die.

They have the National anthem ahead of every cultural event I’ve ever been to. I don’t see why sports should be different.

Never heard the national anthem in front of a concert. Or a tv show. Or a movie.

They have had it before school board meetings, assemblies, and stuff like that. So I guess maybe just school events lol.

I remembered the national anthem at a lot of things growing up and then realized it was just school stuff.

The previous NFL playbook already had some terminology in it, that players should stand when the anthem is played. I don't remember now what was it exactly, but it's the team responsibility or whatever those rules are then pretty much followed.

The keyword is "should"; standing was not a requirement. It was not until 2009 that players were required to be on the field for the anthem, therefore not a long tradition as some have claimed. Also, the military has used taxpayer money to pay NFL (and other sports organizations) for displays of patriotism during the games.

Quote:
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith brought up the fact that until 2009—eight years and a new Presidential administration after 9/11—players weren’t on the field for the national anthem and instead generally remained in the locker room. According to Smith’s boy (and the researcher at ESPN who checked it), the switch happened “because it was seen as a marketing strategy to make the athletes look more patriotic.”

Quote:
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed this morning the practice began in 2009, adding, ‘As you know, the NFL has a long tradition of patriotism. Players are encouraged but not required to stand for the anthem.’

Quote:
The DoD paid money (almost $7m in 2015) to various professional sports leagues (and a few colleges) to honor the troops in pro-military ceremonies and JumboTron advertisements.

Indoctrination at an early age is more effective. This is what they are doing to students in Hong Kong to make them love China.

It's ironic because most educators are liberal and hate the president right now.

I'd say most higher level educators are "liberal".

Are you implying that elementary and middle grades educators aren't? I think it goes all the way up and down.

I'd say it's easier to become a lower level educator, thus implying that the smart teachers are liberal.

Not sure what is ironic about it or what you mean by it. And it seems you are conflating approving of Trump's presidency with love of the country. Two entirely different concepts.

And the anthem thing in school has nothing to do with Trump, although what Trump is doing now is trying to hijack "patriotism". He dictates what is patriotic and what is not. If you do not toe his line, you are condemned as unpatriotic.

Though even then, I'd say most teachers are liberal. Because most teachers have empathy.

Under new government directives, children as young as 1 year old are now being taken away from their parents when they arrive at the border seeking asylum together. Separating young children from parents for no reasons...

Animals may have more empathy than those who make these policies.

Why are you attacking President Obama? This is a Trump thread.

That's not an Obama policy, you fool.

Before you even ask, yes, Obama should've ended ICE. They suck. They have sucked.

You've been Trump'ed. It is a new policy announced in May (this month).

How was I "Trumped"? I am talking about this:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/post-nation/wp/2018/05/27/the-u-s-lost-track-of-1500-immigrant-children-last-year-heres-why-people-are-outraged-now/

I could care less about immigration or the dumb wall or any of that. I want more immigration and don't like families being separated.

I don't understand what you think you're saying? ICE has always sucked. Under Obama, even! The act of separating families is a new Trump policy, on top of the idiotic previous ICE policies.
